We serve the two small towns of Farrell and Sherard (combined pop. ~700) on Hwy 1 in Coahoma County, MS

Founded in 1995

Farrell-Sherard HFH

Farrell-Sherard HFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - 'sweat equity' - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

We have just won our second consecutive regional Jimmy Carter Award for most houses built per capita.

We now have completed 13 houses and have two more under construction, one of which we hope to finish in the summer of 2001. Thanks to all the volunteers who help us keep building!

Volunteer groups are usually scheduled on a weekly basis throughout the year. If you have a church, youth group, higschool, college, or just some friends who would like to volunteer, please contact our offices at 662-627-9510, mail us at P.O. Box 67, Farrell, MS 38630, or email us at habitatman@hotmail.com

If you or someone you know is in need of affordable housing , please contact our office. Prospective homeowners are chosen every few years, and if selected are expected to put in 500 hours of ''sweat equity''.

Help us eliminate substandard housing in our community! It's quick, easy and safe to support the house-building, hope-building work of Farrell-Sherard HFH through Habitat for Humanity International's secure online donation system. You can even send a gift card announcing your donation in honor of a loved one or a special occasion.

The Habitat for Humanity International web site contains more information on Habitat's history, mission, volunteer opportunities and contact information for other Habitat affiliates around the world.
