Amnesia
Author - Kavanne
Summary - Aeryn forgets something.
He walked among the corridors, alone, she had been missing for several arns.
Whatever the reason, she hides well. He checked all the places he had shown
her to hide from D’argo in hyper-rage, which he was very near now. No one
there, not a word from her on the comms, no answer on the comms, not from her.
Out of the blue, a voice startled him;
“Give up now traitor, and you will not die.” Was it her?
“Aeryn? This has to be a joke right.” he said hopefully, there was a truth in
her voice that sounded as if she had gone crazy on them.
“No joke, the other prisoners will be taken to!” the voice seemingly coming
from nowhere.
“Zhaan, I found her, kind of, she’s gone. . .weird, she says that we will be
recaptured and killed.”
“John, where is she?” Zhaan replied, how could she keep such a cool head when
we may be about to die, or suffer. . a lot.
“I don’t know, her voice is just there, I can’t place it. Can all Peacekeeper
throw their voices?”
“Throw their what?!”
“Never mind.” That’s an idea he thought. “Aeryn, come and get me!” he threw
himself against a bulkhead and saw her running down the opposite corridor.
“Gotcha.” he muttered under his breath before running after her down the
corridor, being careful she did not see him.
He made a dive for her rifle, succeeding in pulling it from her grasp and
knocking her to the floor.
“Stop, Officer Sun, Don’t you know what you are doing?!” he shouted
desperately as he moved away with he rifle.
“Ha! There is no point in fighting prisoner!”
“Prisoner?! How dare you insult your superior!” he argued, praying it would
work.
“Superior?! You are a mere criminal!” The shouting match continued for
several microts.
“Okay, that didn’t work.” he muttered to himself. He set the rifle on the
lowest setting and decided his only option was to knock her out with it.
“Sorry Aeryn.” he whispered, dragging her to the med bay. “Zhaan could you be
ready to tend Aeryn, I was forced to shoot her. On the lowest setting mind
you.” he remembered to add, so as not to get them worried.* * * *
“No major damage,” she turned to John, “You should really learn more about
Sebacean physiology, any higher and you may have permanently damaged her
digestive functions.”
“Oops.” he murmured guiltily. At that precise moment she started to wake, as
soon as she had her bearings she started to struggle in the bindings they had
to use.
“Let me out of here you vegetable!!” she screamed at Zhaan. Crichton
flinched, god that was harsh. He thought maybe she was just in a bad mood,
but that confirmed it there was most definitely something wrong, something
majorly wrong. He leaned over her and spoke quietly.
“God Aeryn, what’s wrong with you?”
“Me, ha! You are the delusional one.”
“Don’t you know who I am? Don’t you know why we are here? Don’t you know that
there are no other peacekeepers aboard? Don’t you know that we are all
worried sick about you? Won’t you come back Aeryn, please?”
“Do you always talk this much?” she said yawning with boredom.
“She’s forgotten everything that has happened to us hasn’t she?” he looked up
at Zhaan, helplessness in his eyes.
“I think so.” she said regretfully. He slammed his hand back down on the
table and focussed his attention back on Aeryn.
“Damn Aeryn, I can’t start over! I love you and I always will, won’t you
please come back?” he collapsed in sobs beside her bed. Did he really feel
that way about her, he never thought he would actually say it, especially at
a time like this.
Aeryn felt the compassion build in her heart, but no, she must banish it, she
is a peacekeeper. Suddenly she was sitting in what she could see was a
leviathan transport pod, with the Sebacean criminal beside her and she felt
herself leaning in to kiss him, she couldn’t stop herself, he responded. Then
the vision changed, she was being held at the neck by a peacekeeper with a
knife to her abdomen. She could again see the Sebacean man’s eye’s filled
with pain and exhaustion, she felt the knife plunge into her flesh, and she
could hear him running to her side and then she was back in the leviathan on
the med bay bed. What was that she had just seen, was the Sebacean, no, human
telling the truth? Had she been out here for 1 and a half cycles, was she
really a criminal? The memories came flooding back, each one more intense.
She could feel the emotions surface, what she felt for each one of these
people, the feelings she had learnt to show and express in many ways. The
emotions John had taught her, and the most important one she felt for him,
love.
“John?” she asked quietly.
“Aeryn, what happened, we were all worried there.”
“I forgot, I forgot it all. Everything.”
“You remember now?”
“Yes, yes I do.”
“Well, that’s all that matters then.” He bent down and planted a kiss on her
forehead and turned to leave.
“Stay?” she moved over in the bed to give him room, he obliged. She was back.
They lay there for what seemed eternity, just content with the universe and
the way it was, the last couple of arns had been one of the most strenuous
on Crichton, admitting that and having to shoot her.
They would never leave the other and they made a silent pact as they squeezed
each other’s hand.
