John was walking aimlessly around the corridors when he came upon D'Argo's quarters. He was about to walk away when he just decided to confront D'Argo, then maybe he could deal with the whole Chiana episode. He knocked on the door, and asked if he could come in.
"Uh, yeah, um, wait John, would you mind coming back later?" he said nervously.
"Yeah, sure, whatever." John said walking away from his quarters, as he did he could have sworn he heard feminine whispering. So, just to make sure, he rounded the corner and peered out towards D'Argo's quarters. What he saw next shocked him, terribly: Zhaan came out of his quarters, she looked back into his quarters, sighed, then turned and started walking away. John walked back towards D’Argo's quarters.
"Hey, D'Argo, you wanna talk now." he said, trying to keep the anger out of his voice. (how could he do that to Chiana?) he thought when he entered the room. He saw D'Argo just sifting on the bed looking-well-looking not like D'Argo. It seemed almost like he had been crying, but John was worried about Chiana and barely registered D'Argo's look.
"I am not goin' to beat about the bush, D'Argo, 1-" he was interrupted by the confused look he gave him, "Never mind, I am just gonna ask you straight out, "Why are you cheating on Chiana?" D'Argo looked up at him, wondering what he was talking about, "Cheating'? On Chia-"
"Yeah, you heard me. You are cheating on Chiana with Zhaan," he gave him an accusing look.
"No, John, I'm not-"
"Then why do you and Zhaan always walk away from each other when someone walks into the room, and how come I just saw Zhaan leave your quarters'? Hmmm?" he looked at him, waiting for an explanation. D'Argo looked up at him, then gave a defeated sigh, and began to explain, "John, yesterday was- yesterday was my son's birth-anniversary," he choked out,
then looked down, ashamed that he was crying, but at the same time, not really caring, either. John sat down on the bed and said, "You mean his birthday?"
"Yes, it was the anniversary of his birth. He would be eleven cycles old today," he looked sideways at John, then asked, "Does Chiana think I'm cheating on her?"
"Yeah, D'Argo, she does, but I'll explain it to her."
"But I already told her about Jothee," he said, giving John a confused look. John had been staring forward, but when he heard that, he turned to look at D'Argo, "You mean, she knows you were just talking with Zhaan?" "Of course," he said.
John was beginning to put things in order, "The laughter. . ." he mumbled to himself.
"What?"
"Nothing, D'Argo, I'm gonna go get Zhaan, okay?"
John walked out of his quarters and told Zhaan that D'Argo needed someone to talk to, then he went to Aeryn's quarters. When he got there, he heard Aeryn saying, " . . it will be alright, Chiana.'
He knocked on the door and asked if he could come in. There was hesitation. Most likely, Aeryn was asking Chiana, but then she said, "Come on in, Crichton." When he walked in, he saw Chiana being comforted by Aeryn. He walked right up to Chiana, took her hands in his and said,
"Chiana, D'Argo is cheating on you, I just saw Zhaan walking out of his quarters," he looked at her and he saw what he was doing to her, she ran out of the room, and Aeryn tried to follow her, but John held her arm, and she looked at him with a surprised look on her face.
"John, we must go talk to her," she said, wondering what he was doing. "No, we don't, Sunshine," he said as he pulled her closer.
"No, we must go talk to her," she said, wondering what he was doing. "You're right," he said, "but I need to explain something to you," he pulled her over on the bed and started explaining the details of what was going to hopefully happen within the next couple of arns.
As soon as he told her that D'Argo was cheating on her, she headed towards his quarters, but just a little ways from it, she heard Zhaan talking then the both of them laughing. She immediately did an about face, and ran, crying all the way back to her own quarters, there she cried for arns.
A FEW ARNS LATER
Chiana stumbles out of her quarters, her eyes red since she had been crying. She kept stumbling her way to command. When she got there, she heard giggling coming from inside. When she opened the door, she found D'Argo and Zhaan in a fight embrace. She stopped being sad, and started getting angry, She ran up to the two of them and pushed them apart. She turned to D'Argo and started raving on him, "How could you ... you ... you slimy, disgusting ... TRALK!" then she turned on Zhaan," and you, I can't believe you, you are supposed to be my friend." She heard laughing coming from behind her, she turned toward the door to find Crichton and Aeryn doubled over in laughter, 'What are you two laughing about?"
"You," Aeryn managed to choke out through her laughter. Chiana continued to stare until they finally got under control, "We're sorry, Chiana, it's just that the tables have been turned, haven't they?" John asked, still a huge grin on his face.
"What are you talking about, John?" Zhaan asked. "You see, Pip there was trying to screw with Aeryn and my heads but we figured it out, and we switched it, and started frelling with her head."
"How?" she asked.
Chiana answered that one, "By making me think that D'Argo was cheating on me with you." She ran over and jumped into D'Argo's arms, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry a million times over."
"You are forgiven, Chiana," he said grandly. Then she walked over to Zhaan, and said, "Can you forgive me?"
"Of course. But I think some other people owe some apologies too," she said, looking over to John and Aeryn.
"Yeah, we're sorry too, Chi," John apologizes for both of them, but he's still grinning.
"Well, Chiana stated, "I think I could use some, uh, sleep," she said eyeing D'Argo, "Couldn't you?
"Absolutely," he said, he walked out, while John late out a final giggle.
"You know, tricks are for kids," Zhaan says as she walks out. John gets sort of a funny look on his face.
"What's wrong, John?" she asked "Just what Zhaan said." "What about it?"
"Oh, nothing, it just reminded me of earth.'
That was the look that she didn't know what to make of. Normally she could tell what John was thinking, but right now, she didn't know how to take it, so she came up with a way to shake him up. She walked over to him, and tripped his legs out from underneath him, then she sat on top of him.
"Hey! Aeryn! Have you gone completely farbot?!" he asked trying to wriggle out. Or maybe just wriggling for fun.
She leaned down closer to him, "What? Don't you remember when we first met?"
He stopped wriggling, reluctantly, "Oh, I remember that. That would make an interesting story to tell people, 'Hello, when she and I first met, she kicked the crap out of me, and she still tends to do it a lot.'"
She playfully started to get off him, "Well, if you don't want me, then I suppose I could go somewhere else."
He pulled her back down, "Oh, I don't think so, I rather like it here." He pulled her down to kiss her . . .
