Begin Part III
Aeryn stared in awe out of the viewscreen, "These are Moya’s builders?" she asked, still staring at the white, cloud-like tendrils swirling all around Talyn.
"Yes."
Suddenly a light came from behind them, "You are the one they call Aeryn Sun?" a deep voice asked.
She turned around to stare at a portly, sort-of transparent man surrounded by fog, "Yes."
"And you believe you are worthy to Pilot a ship such as this?" he asked.
She was about to yell out that she didn’t want to do this when she saw a look from Crais, "Yes, I do."
"And why would you believe that?"
She stammered for a moment then said, "Because we are alike."
"Indeed," he answered, then said, "I am Kahaynu."
"I know that."
"Of course you do," he answered, then disappeared and showed up behind them, "I have been through this gunship’s systems, and I have seen what sort of a life he has lead," he turned to Crais, "You have thus far been kind and gentle to him, however, you will eventually break and use him as a violent instrument. He needs another Captain," he turned to Aeryn again, "A Captain like you."
He disappeared and Crais and Aeryn turned to eachother, "I had no idea it would be that easy," Aeryn said, looking skeptical.
"Neither did I," he too was skeptical, "He put me through all sorts of tests to see if I was worthy."
"Then why was it so easy for me?"
"I don’t know, but let’s get out of here," he said, and told Talyn to prepare for StarBurst, but instead of ‘Bursting, the only thing they did was jerk and cause them both to fall down.
"What was that."
Kahaynu showed up again, "I must have forgotten to mention that Talyn will not be able to leave."
"What!" Crais yelled out and tried to attack him.
Aeryn pulled him back and whispered, "I don’t think that is going to work, Crais."
"She is right," Kahaynu responded, "It will not work."
He disappeared again, but Aeryn yelled back, "What is he to do, here?"
"He will be decommissioned."
"What!" Aeryn shouted out, "What do you mean, ‘decomissioned’"
"He can dispense carnage, and the world was not meant to be that way, so he must be decomissioned."
Aeryn tried to argue her way out of it, "But Talyn is a gentle beast, he would never-"
"No, HE would never, but those who Pilot him would, and he would follow, because he is a gentle beast, and that is why he needs to be decomissioned."
"No!" Aeryn cried out as she sank down to the floor to cry, "You cannot do that! PLEASE!"
But Kahaynu disappeared anyway, "NOOOOOO!!!!" she yelled out again, then she turned on Crais, "This is all your fault," she hissed.
"What do you mean my fault?" he looked incredulous, "I wanted you to convince Kahaynu that you were a good Captain."
"Well, apparently I’m not, and now Talyn is going to be decomissioned for your incompetence."
"My incompetence!" he pulled his pulse gun on her, "you will pay for this Officer Sun. I will not lose my power."
"No!" she screamed and ran out of the way, then yelled, "Talyn, help me!" surprisingly, he did. He pulled out his internal weaponry and shot Crais square in the back, when Aeryn checked him, he was still alive, so Talyn must have used a low pulse, she breathed a sigh of relief, "Thank you, Talyn, but why?"
A series of low beeps, and pulses answered her,"What do you mean?" she asked, now very confused, another series of low pulses, "But why did you choose him over me?" she asked, once again another series of low pulses followed by a couple of high ones, "Oh, I see," she said and smiled, "Thank you, Talyn," she said and sank to the floor, then she remembered, "But, Talyn, I what are we going to do about Kahaynu? He will decomission you." Two short, high pulses answered an ‘I don’t know’"
"Alright, Talyn, I think I’ve got a plan . . .unless of course he’s invincible. . .but not even gods are all invincible," she says to herself, "Talyn, can you give me access to your life support systems?"
A console lighted up and Aeryn walked over to it, "Thank you," and begin to fiddle with it. A half an arn later, Aeryn had just put on her walksuit when he appeared again.
"What are you doing, Officer Sun?" Kahaynu appeared and asked.
"Whatever do you mean, Kahaynu?" she answered innocently, (as innocent as Aeryn can), but there was an edge to her voice.
"You are trying to kill me? Are you not?" he asked.
She whipped around and said, "Yes! Yes, I am, if Talyn’s gonna die, then we’re gonna go down with them."
"You shall live."
"No! I will not lose Talyn again," she was bluffing, she was gonna get outta here alive, with Talyn.
"He has resulted in the loss of life already."
"No, CRAIS is responsible, not Talyn. You yourself said that they are gentle beasts, which means they would follow those who are in control, it is NOT is fault!"
He seemed to ponder it for a microt, but then he said, "No, he shall be decomissioned."
"Fine, you have decided, and now you have forced me to take desperate measures," she put on her helmet and said to Talyn, "Now, Talyn, turn off the internal life support systems."
She watched as Kahaynu began to suffocate, however, he didn’t just stop breathing, he disappeared, "Talyn!" she cried out joyfully, "get us out of here."
A couple of low and high beeps followe, "What do you mean, we can’t move, we have to get out of here!"
Kahaynu appeared again behind her, "You have done well."
"What are you talking about?"she said,
"You are right, Crais is unworthy to Pilot a Leviathon such as this. In his hands, this Leviathon/gunship could and would be a dangerous weapon. However, because you have proven yourself to us, we shall allow you to leave with this leviathan."
She looked at him incredulously, "You mean this was all a test."
He nodded, "And a way to rid Talyn of him."
She nodded her head, then grabbed the Pulse Rifle Crais had taken from her, "I suggest you leave this ship before I become angry again."
"Of course, I wish you luck in all that you do."
She lowered her pulse gun with a shaky hand. She didn’t wether to be angry or excited. She decided to be angry first, and tie up Crais, when she had done so, she said to Talyn, "Talyn, plot a course back to Moya, and take us back."
A low series of beeps, "What do you mean that would be unwise?" another set of low beeps, she looked out the window to see Moya exiting StarBurst. She gave a sigh of relief. They had exited the area where the builders were, and Mother and Child faced eachother, when she noticed there was a transmission coming through.
"Aeryn!" came Crichton’s voice, "Aeryn, are you all right!?"
"Yes, John, I’m fine," she said, "I am just fine," she repeated, "Come on over, John, I want to get Crais out of here."
"What are you talkin’ about?" he asked, relieved that she was alright.
"The Builders deemed Crais unworthy to Pilot Talyn, but Kahaynu said that I was."
"Kahaynu?" came Zhaan’s voice, "You have met him?"
"Yes, he is a dispicable creature, he gave me a test which I had to pass in order to take Talyn. Horrible man."
She smiled, knowing exactly what she was talking about. Then Pilot came on, "Moya tells me that Talyn’s size has more than doubled, how is he?"
"He is good, Pilot, he is well."

They put Crais in a cell, he was still knocked out from the blast that Talyn had given him, the others were arguing in the mess about what to do with him, D’Argo as usual took the strongest side, "Let’s dump him off in space."
"I think that’s a little drastic, Big Guy." Crichton said.
"I agree, which should put him off on the nearest commerce planet, let him figure out what to do on his own," Aeryn put in.
"I am with Aeryn on this, "Zhaan put in.
"Of course you are, you don’t want him to die."
"No, I just don’t want to kill him." Aeryn countered.
"Fine, then the commerce planet it is."
"Good," Chiana said, bored with this conversation, "now can we eat."
"Yes, I’m starving," Rygel said, Aeryn placed a well-aimed food cube right between the eyes.
They all started laughing.

Later, Aeryn walks into Crais’ cell, she walked up to him, and whispered to him, "Never again, Crais, Never again." She left the cell. He opened his eyes.
"It’s not over Officer Sun." he said slowly and methodically.
