by Donna
Rating: pg 13
Spoilers: A bit from the first season
Summery: John has to say it to her. But how?
Notes: This is situated a few weeks after “The Flax” but before the next episode. It revolves around the Aeryn-John relationship like all my stories.

* Frell, she is so beautiful when she’s asleep…………. No, she’s always beautiful; I just never get the time to notice. What with the peacekeepers and D’Argo’s hyper rage. Not to mention Aeryn trying to bash me every twenty minutes. Frell she is soooooo beautiful. * John stood outside Aeryn’s quarters, watching, thinking.

For the last week he’d been troubled, it hadn’t shown so no one had asked him what was wrong. He wanted to tell her he loved her, he wasn’t sure why, he wasn’t sure if he should, she’d probably kill him, he wasn’t sure what he’d do if he decided not to tell her, he was likely to go nuts.

Aeryn stirred. in her sleep. He had to go, if she woke up and found him there he would end up with at least two broken bones.

Well, back to bed. * John thought as he turned and headed towards his quarters.

The next morning, in the mess hall, Aeryn, John and D’Argo were sitting around the table when a happy looking Zhaan strolled in, “Good morning, Aeryn and John, D‘Argo can you come with me for a moment, there’s a problem on Tier 7. John you and Aeryn can clean up. OK?”

John inwardly groans when Aeryn mutters an “I’d rather do them by myself, but if you insist” D’Argo leaves with Zhaan and Aeryn marches him into the kitchen where she orders him to start drying. ” He remembers the night before and decides to see if she’s beautiful in the day as well as the night. He stares at her face and sees a lose strand of raven black hair that has fallen out of place, his hands long to reach over and brush it out of the way, but he resists knowing he wouldn’t live long enough to tell anyone how it felt, but he had to. Another piece of hair fell out of her ponytail to join the other lose strand. Aeryn shook her head trying to move them but couldn’t because her hands were wet. John, seeing his chance eagerly reached over and brushed them both out of her way.

She looked up at him so quickly she sent several more strands flying, she met John’s eyes and in return John gave her a lop-sided smile. Then she fainted.

“Frell, Zhaan Aeryn…………..fainted! Get in here quick.” John said into his com. What was he going to say? He was pretty sure that peacekeepers didn’t usually faint.

“What happened?” Zhaan said rushing through the entrance, “Oh my, what made her faint? She is going to be upset when she wakes up. The last Peacekeeper I heard of fainting was twenty cycles ago, only the most intense emotion can cause this.”

She looked up. “John what “intense” wave of emotion came over her?”

"I dunno. All I did was brush a strand of hair out of her eyes because she couldn’t. Her hands were all soapy. She just looked up and fainted. Honest.”

Aeryn moaned on the ground. A massive smile spread across her face and she murmured, ‘Of course I will John.” Before her eyes flew open and she sat up, or at least tried to sit up, Half way she hit her head on Crichton’s chin and was forced down again.

Then she remembered what had just happened and she realized her reason for fainting, Her eyes widened in terror and she looked at John to see if he’d worked the reason out.

“I, um I’ve got to go, yeah, she'll be okay,” Zhaan said before turning around and leaving.

"You be okay, Aeryn?" he asked, he had to get away, phyisical contact hadn't helped him with holding back.

She nodded. He left.

The minute John thought she was out of earshot, He said it, “Oh god Aeryn, I’ve fallen for you. I want you, I need you.”

“Hmmm? What did you say?,” Aeryn lifted an eyebrow while John turned around and walked back, covering his mouth.

“What are you talking about? What do you want me for? And when have you fallen over for me?”

John looked up, he’d been horrified when he realized what he’d said and surprised when she hadn’t understood.

“I didn’t mean it like that, human talk, I’d rather not talk about it,” he returned.

“Umm, Jo…Crichton, do you know why I fainted?” she asked horrified he’d say yes.

“No, maybe you’re sick, I dunno,” he shrugged off. Then walked away.

Once they both thought the other was out of hearing distance they breathed a sigh of relief and went off to get some sleep.
