“We need supplies and this is what we get?” Aeryn said, looking around at the planet as they all got out of the transport.  She was the first to get out, and John followed her.  He looked around, shielding his eyes from the mid-day sunlight.

“Looks just like San Fran!” John said laughing, and he was not far from the truth.  There were several tall skyscrapers and the city was oceanside.  It looked like a fairly prosperous city, but rather futuristic with all the speeder-type transports and monorail rapid transit systems.  It was almost something out of Star Wars.  The others gave him strange looks, and John just laughed.  “San Francisco.  It’s a city in California, a state from the country I’m from.  It had the tall buildings, the ocean, everything.  It is very similar.”  Aeryn shook her head and laughed.  “What’s wrong with it, anyway?”  D’Argo and Chiana tried, unsuccessfully, to stifle a laugh.

“John, cities like this in the Uncharted Territories are basically breeding areas of trawlks,” D’Argo answered.  John raised his eyebrows and nodded slowly.  Then a wide smile came across his face.

“You mean this is a world of strippers and the like?” he asked with a smile.

“I should think you would get a kick out of that,” Aeryn said with mock anger.  He knew she was joking and walked up behind her, putting his mouth close to her ear so only she could hear.

“C’mon darlin’, you know it’s only you I love,” he said, kissing her ear ever so lightly.  She laughed.

“Hmph.  I’ll bet,” she said, and walked away smiling.  He laughed and walked to catch up with the others.

Aeryn, D’Argo, Chiana and John had been wandering for about two arns in search of supplies.  Chiana got herself lost in the crowd, but none of them worried much.  She knew how to take care of herself, although none of them would admit it.  The two people on Moya who were the most like children- John and Chiana- could now take care of themselves.  It gave Aeryn something to think about.  Now, there was no one to keep a vigilant eye over.  No one to take care of.  No one that depended on her anymore.  For once, that bothered the ex-Peacekeeper.

“Here’s a bar.  You want to stop for a drink?  I for one could use a good brewsky,” John said to Aeryn and D’Argo.  They ignored the comment about some sort of beverage and walked in.  The establishment was dark and dingy, the sort of place where trouble finds everyone.  The walls were made of some sort of stone like some fireplaces are made of on Earth, but all the stones were different shades of blue instead of grey.  The tables and countertops were a misty brown marble-type material and the chairs were metallic and futuristic looking.  The whole place had a Star Wars aura to it, and John couldn’t help but expect to find some Storm Troopers sitting at the booth in the corner.  He looked around and found all sorts of creatures.  There were purple, bipedal felines, blue, tripedal lizards and some strange things that looked like a mix of different races he’d already seen.  There were Zenetans, Sebaceans, Tavleks, and Vocarians, plus a few that John didn’t recognize.  He, Aeryn and D’Argo sat down at a table near the door but pretty much out of view, in case a quick getaway was needed.  A small, greenish feline waitress came over to take their order.

“I’ll have a reslac, easy on the brendin,” Aeryn said.

“Make that two,” D’Argo added gruffly.  When it came to John’s turn, he decided to have a little fun with the waitress.

“Do you have any beer?” he asked, looking innocently into the waitress’s eyes to make it look like a genuine question.  She gave him a questioning look, and Aeryn just sat back in her chair and fought back a laugh.  D’Argo rolled his eyes, but said nothing.  Both had heard him talk of his ‘beer’, but neither knew what it was.

“Uh, I do not believe so, sir,” the waitress said after a few microts.  John furrowed his brow, as if thinking.

“Well, how about coffee?  Black, two sugars and one Half-and-Half.”  Again, she was confused, so Aeryn stepped in.

“He’ll have a renslesh,” she said.  D’Argo and Aeryn laughed, but John just had a puzzled look on his face.  That bewilderment was replaced with defeat when their drinks were brought to them.

“The aviation fuel stuff!  Ah, Aeryn!  I was just having fun!” he said, picking up the glass and looking at it from every angle imaginable.  D’Argo laughed and drank his reslac with contentment.

“That’s what you get for ‘having a little fun,’ John!” he said.  John pouted, but drank it.  He wouldn’t admit it to the others, but it wasn’t half-bad.  Not as good as beer, but nothing in the Uncharteds ever would be, so he might was well get used to the local delicacies.  They weren’t quite done when a group of girls came out and got up onto the counter.

“Bar dancers!” John said giddily.  Aeryn shot him a look, but John didn’t do anything.  “Come on Aeryn, a guy has to have some fun!”  D’Argo just laughed; more at John’s stupidity than anything else.  The girls, five Sebaceans, got up on the bar and some music started provided by the resident lizard band called “The Commandos”.  The music was comparable to maybe rock back home, something like EMF, INXS, or Snap.  It reminded him a lot of the bars back home, and for about an arn, it wasn’t so bad to be in the Uncharted Territories.

Aeryn looked on at the dancers and looked at John’s ogling at them.  ‘Oh come on Aer, he loves you!  He said so a few arns ago back at the transport.  But it would only take one girl, one girl prettier, smarter or more…’ the only word she could think of was ‘cooperative,’ but it didn’t seem to fit her intent.  ‘Someday he will get fed up with your pushing away and resisting.  Soon there will be another girl that won’t resist him, not like you do.’  She finished her third reslic and ordered one more.

“Is that wise, Aeryn?” D’Argo asked her, leaning over so John didn’t hear.  He knew that John would never let Aeryn live down the one time her judgement was impaired.

“I’ll be fine D’Argo.  I learned to drink in the Corps.” she said with a smile.  She drank her fourth drink, and as she was nearing the end of the glass, she began to get a little light headed.  ‘I can’t be drunk,’ she thought.  ‘I know how to handle my drinks.  I was trained for that.’  She drank a few more gulps of it, but her head got lighter and she all of a sudden lost all intelligent thought.  She looked at John, who was staring at the bar dancers.  ‘What’s so great about them?  I could do that too!’  She got up and took down her hair, letting it fall freely over her shoulders.  John noticed that and got up, figuring something was up.  He knew she’d been keeping it in her braid and only took it down when she was going to shower.  It was odd that she would undo it now.

“Aeryn, are you alright?” John asked her, grabbing her arm as she almost lost her balance.

“Yes John, I’m fine!” she said.  She walked over to the bar and hopped up in one swift motion.  The dancers slowly stopped their routine, and John shot out of the chair he had sat back down in.

“Aeryn, get down!  What do you think you’re doing?” he asked sternly.  She never let her guard down or did radical things like this, and it concerned him as well as D’Argo.

“I’m fine, John!  Frell!  Let me do what I want, ok?”  She took off her vest to reveal her black tank top and kicked off her boots.  She made a hand motion to the band and they started playing music again.  The other dancers started up again, but all in the bar were focused on Aeryn and what she was going to do.  She swayed her hips and moved slowly down a bar that was bolted to the counter and reached up to the ceiling.  She could only assume that it was used for this purpose and used it to her advantage.  Every so often she looked over to the other dancers and copied their moves.  Her body swayed and moved nimbly to the music, and she moved over to where John and D’Argo were standing near the bar watching her intently.  She lowered herself seductively near John and twirled to the other side of her, lowering her head down near his and then moving against her own body upward again.  John was watching her, and she felt special.  She felt like he finally liked what he saw.  She began to take her tank top off, when an arm stopped her.  She looked at her left arm and saw John’s hand gently on her elbow.  He was not being forceful, but was stopping her from doing anything he knew she would regret.  She looked at his hand, then looked at him, and then fainted into his arms.
