John and Aeryn looked at each other simutainously. Great, Fluffy is stealing the food again, John thought in amusement. We’d better stop him, though. If he’s been eating for 1 and a half arns strait, then I can only imagine how much food that is.
Aeryn turned to John. “We will have to go through a tunnel inside Moya’s hulls to get to Rygel’s chamber.”
“Wait a minute. Are you telling me that ALL of our food is in Rygel’s chamber?” John said in shock.
“No, Commander” Pilot piped up. “Rygel seems to have made some sort of device to have the food be sent directly to Rygel’s chambers. He said he had it back on Hyneria.”
“And you let him build it?”
“Absolutely not. I told him he couldn’t.”
“Right” John siad in exasperation. “Is there any way we could stop this machine?”
“The only way is to get into Rygel’s chambers. He has a control panel there and you need to press the red button.”
“Sounds easy. It’s never easy” John mumbled. “Right, let’s go Aeryn.”
Aeryn seemed to know the tunnels like she had been through them a million times. As they went along, they could see everyone else’s chambers. It was the perfect place to spy on someone.
“You could watch what anyone is doing in secret” Aeryn said in amusement.
“Have you ever done it before?” John asked suspiciously.
“I’ll let you think about that” Aeryn said with a foxy smile. John made a mental note to come back there later.
After a lot of twists and turns, they finally reached Rygel’s chambers. Rygel looked like some sort of wild animal that hadn’t eaten at all in it’s life.
“On three” John said. “One, two, three.”
John and Aeryn pushed the vent and jumped into Rygel’s chambers. It was very quiet, and all you could hear was the slight noise of a machine and the quiet hum of Moya. For some odd reason, Rygel had disappeared. Aeryn and John looked around and the spotted the control panel to Rygel’s food machine.
Aeryn started to walk over to the panel, saying “Here. I’ll-“ When all of a sudden, Rygel jumped onto Aeryn, knocked her down and was trying to bite her like a wild boar.
“RYGEL, GET OFF!!!!” Aeryn shouted as she tried to pull him off. But it was no good. He stuck onto her as though he were an octopus. “John, turn it off!”
John quickly ran to the panel, switched it off, and blasted the wires. He ran back to Aeryn, still struggling with Rygel who had bitten her like he had in the early days, but Aeryn did not shed a tear and before John had reached out a hand to pull him off she took out a sharp object and stabbed Rygel. Rygel’s face went dead and he fell to the floor.
John stared at Rygel. “Did you-kill him?” John asked, amazed at the scene.
“No, I stunned him” Aeryn said in a huffy tone. “We should inform Pilot. Then we’ll plan on how to rescue the others.”
John and Aeryn had informed Pilot, and he gave them thanks. They headed to John’s quarters and when they got inside they sat down in two chairs next to each other. On the table in front, John pulled out some spare paper and they started talking about ways of breaking into where they needed to go. When they were finished, John leaned back in his chair and heaved a sigh.
“I don’t want to come near that maniac again.”
“He can’t hurt you. Remember what he said. He condemned you to live.”
“Yeah, I know. But I can just picture what he would do to me........”
Aeryn laid her head on John’s shoulder in comfort. John turned his head to her’s and they kissed.
They embraced each other and John laid Aeryn on his bed. They kept kissing for arns.............
