A POLITICAL VIEW. BY FABIO SAU. fasau@supereva.it f.sau@mailcity.com fasau.geo@yahoo.com

Dear Visitor, let me try to explain something about my political views and ideas. Unfortunately I don’t have now time and tranquillity to tell you extensively about my opinions: here’s a quick taste.

Well, I like to think my self as a pragmatic idealist in politics. My political party doesn't still exist, cuz I believe that we and our rulers must do a lot of things to improve our World, for us and our descendants.

Whatever is be their political colour, I don’t think our leaders and representatives are often operating in this direction.

I believe that the political ideas closer to mine could be the English-American "Liberalism", that we can consider as an heritage of the European Enlightenment and of philosophers as Locke, Montesquieu, the US Founding Fathers and many many others.

I am sure one first important step and basis in politics and society in general is discussing, debating, confronting the issues, and sharing our views and opinions: in one word COOPERATION.

Our own consciousness and knowledges have to be always questionable. Maybe I can be wrong about this and you an be all right about that, and viceversa… but with a common effort we can reach, rather smell if not the, at least a Truth. What I mean, Dear Visitor is that we must be rational in our minds, approaches, plans and goals. Being  rational when we’re trying to solve any kind of problem. In my opinion if Science can’t yet give us the absolute certainty about our fundamental and basic questions, then Moral and Tradition aren’t able to teach us the Truth too.

We must accept others opinion, if we really want to leave in and build a free and open society. And you have to realize that our own kowledges are not only confutable, but also always incomplete. We need each other to solve an immense amount of problems and challenges we are facing in the near and distant future.

Galilean-Newtonian Science and its metod advances and makes progress thanks to the most severe and harsh competition: a contest among several ideas.

Democracy is a competition between different political propositions.

Economy is a competition about services and goods in the markets.

The etymology of the verb “To Compete” is from Late Latin com-petere to seek together, from Latin, to come together, agree, be suitable, from com- + petere to go to, seek. In short search together, aiming toward the best solution for a given problem. This attitude in human history has been always the only real way to discover the unknown and our Frontiers.

Consequently this kind of contest generates efficiency.

Our experience showed us that the market-economy (and not the Communism in any sort of shape and version!) has created the most widespread wealth for the highest number of persons. Market economy means also private property and ownership, the basis of the political freedoms and liberties of all of us, as well as our own civil rights and laws. For instance the press cannot be really free, if only one person or power owns all the printings.

Perhaps the most important principle is Equality among the human beings. Equality and Dignity in the same measure. Let it be clearly understood that Equality regards equal starting points for a person to choose his/her own destiny and way life.

Everybody must have chances and means to improve his/her life, to reach his/her dreams and goals: there must be an Equality of opportunities. Also Equality is in front of the Law. Anyway be equal doesn’t mean a wealthy and comfortable life for free: you must deserve, gain, merit, and accept your fortune, successes (misfortunes and disgraces too!)

« SUAE FORTUNAE QUISQUE FABER EST » said 2400 years ago Appio Claudio Cieco.

Please, don’t consider me as a dreamer or an utopian, Dear Visitor!

I want to stress that I’m able to be realistic and pragmatic mind too: I perfectly know that millions of our brothers and sisters in this Planet are starving, when somebody got nukes and few others are exploring the outer space with probes, shuttles, and stations.

I firmly believe is possible to build a better world, where such terrible problems are finally solved, but - to this kind of high goal - we need something very spiritual and higher, lofty, noble: solidarity.

“Charity is against our nature!” could say Darwin. I almost entirely agree.

Too many find generosity and nobility in religion, I think instead that we can get it reasoning, arguing, debating, and discussing.

In my opinion we are able and can really help who is in need. Everybody in this Planet must enjoy and given the opportunity to pursue minimum level of wealth and happiness.

We mustn’t create excesses of welfarism, but let give a chance, together with a hand.

Here my final remark is: the best politics is keeping in the first place the individual, with all his/her faults and values, but chiefly keeping an eye on the extraordinary potentialities of every human being! ^_^

We must create our society and governemnt starting from us.

CURRENTLY I'M WORKING ON A BOOK, EMULATING THE SPIRIT OF TOCQUEVILLE, SEARCHING FOR AND EXPLAINING DIFFERENCES AND ANALOGIES BETWEEN U.S. AND EUROPE.

I WANT TO GO DEEP IN MY ANALYSIS ABOUT

THE FIRST,

THE BEST,

MOST ADVANCED,

SELF-HEALING

AND EXCITING DEMOCRACY EVER IN THE WORLD, AT LEAST AT THE MOMENT:

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

THE TITLE COULD BE: "UNITED"

…IN PROGRESS…
