The Eyes of the Soul!

Two men, both where seriously hill, shared the same hospital room. One of them could sit on his bed for about one hour each afternoon, so that he could evacuate all the fluids he had on his lungs. His bed, was right beside the window, the only one in the room. The other man had to lay in bed all day. They used to talk for hours, about their spouses, family, their houses, jobs, when they used to be in the military services and where they used to go for vacations. And each afternoon, when the man in the bed next to the window could sit down, he would spend his afternoon describing to his room mate everything he could see outside. The man in the other bed, started to live for that period of time, where his world would seem widened and brightened, filled with happiness from all the activities and the colors of the outside world.

From the room, he would have a view on the parc with a beautifull lake. The ducks and the swans would play on the water, while the childrens would navigate their little boats. Young lovers would walk hand in hand among the flowers of so many colors, that it would look like a rainbow. Big trees would decorate the landscape, and a beautifull view of the town could be seen at a distance. While the man next to the window would describe all of this, in every details, the man on the other side of the room would closed his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

On a nice afternoon, the man near the window would describe a parade that was going by. Even though the other man could not hear the orchestrates going by, he could see it with the eye of his imagination so good because of the way the man near the window would describe it so perfectly, and with the proper words. Days and weeks went flying. One morning, the day nurse arrived with the water, for their baths and found the man near the window, he had passe away quietly in his sleep. She was very sad and called some people to help take his body away.

When the time was appropriate, the other man asked the nurse if he could be placed near the window. The nurse was happy to tranfer his bed, and after making sure that he was comfortable she left him alone. Slowly and painfully, with his elbow, lifted himself a little higher, so that he could have a look outside. Finally, he would have the joy of seeing for himself. He pulled himself slowly and turn against the window near the bed. All his eye saw, was a brick wall.

The man asked the nurse why his room mate that passed away had described such marvellous things? The nurse answered that the man was blind and could not even see the wall of brick.
She says: "Maybe he just wanted to encourage you."

The epilogue...

There is tremendous happiness on making other people happy, inspite of our own situations. The sorrow shared is half the pain, but happiness shared is doubled! If you want to feel rich, you just have to count everything you have that money can't buy.

Today is a present,
that is the reason why it's called present.
