Over the past 2 years, I have been unable to put as much time into building the coil as I would like to. Having to save up for deposits and fees for building my house had to take precedence over any hobby related projects. The main problem over the past year has been the same story as for all first home buyers and that is the cost of the "finishing-off" of the house such as flooring, landscaping, painting, fencing. The list goes on..... Unfortunately, not having a shed yet means that I'm living half an hours drive away from the shed where my coil is currently being stored (at my parents house) Not that I have had a great deal of time for it anyway. Currently, I am in the process of updating the information in my site so that I can ask other coilers (particularly ones who, unlike me, have at least had a first light!) to check over the details for any glaringly obvious design flaws. The only real work left now is to modify the spark gap which I believe won't work in it's current form and to finish off the pipe and hose system which will go from the main cabinet to the spark gap. I will then need to figure out where I can power it up as I don't believe the yard of my house is big enough to do it safely. |
