DISCLAIMER
(Ugh...)
Some of these modifications may change the ride
characteristics, handling, braking, etc of your bike. Modifications
to ride height, lighting, exhaust etc are not necessarily DOT
approved. You may want to check locally before changing your
motorcycle. Yamaha clearly does not endorse the modification of any
load bearing component of the motorcycle. If you carry significant
weight the majority of the time, or have strict inspection guidelines,
check with your local inspection facility to inquire as to what is acceptable.
I have encountered very few adverse affects, but these are my experiences
only and I make no guarantees as to what you will likely experience.
(Tires and wheels excepted. All are DOT approved.) These are free
exchanges of ideas but you use them at your own risk...

(Translation...)
Listen up!
I'm not taking any responsibility for your breaking out a drill, hacksaw,
torch, grinding wheel Sawz-All or any other implement of
destruction, ruining a perfectly good bike, and having the fine folks at
your local DMV tell you to "Get that deathtrap off the road,
Son!" (Gender specific reference notwithstanding.) or running it down
the road, dragging something meant to never touch pavement, and launching
it into another dimension. Nor will I be held accountable if your
passenger winds up in traffic 'cause you torched the crap out of your
fender support just so you could have the fattest tire possible under your
honey! This is strictly between you and your honey! (...so why don't you
two talk it over. I'll be here...)
