This ride was a scouting trip to help us determine which roads we want to take on our National Road Run we will be hosting next year after Labor Day '03. I am a member of the Omaha Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club and we have had a few local rides over the last few years, but haven't hosted a National one for several years. They try to allow all chapters to do this but only allow a couple to do National runs each year. We traveled along the Loess Hills, which are quite rare and are onlly found in China other than the Council Bluffs area. Another benefit I like about doing it in Iowa is the NOO!! helmet law part. We had a small turnout but an extremely good company on this ride. I had just finished rebuilding the chief and needed some miles on it. It purred like a kitten and performed very well. Another fresh engine on the ride was Zort's Indian Bobberm, you can find photos of it elsewhere on my web page: www.oocities.org/fatbobs_2000/indianbobber.html Jeff Bergen furnished the take off point which is extremely beutiful location. Also has a nice selection of bikes in his stable. He provided the pickup for any breakdowns so didn't get to enjoy the ride. Also, luckily, we didn't need the assistance of the truck. Below you can look at the photos and see what else showed up. It was a cool day but perfect for riding. |
