Justen Shultz------Superman
A little boy sits alone,
Playing silently,
Smiling to himself.
Other children run by,
Laughing and screaming,
Passing him without a glance.
It is not that he is a bad child,
For he is not.
He is just different.
It is hard to understand him at times,
Especially when he is excited,
And he doesn't always understand rules
Or the way that games are played.
When playing basketball,
He ran with the team back and forth,
Following the other boys,
Yet not really understanding
What he was supposed to do.
In baseball he does his very best,
But he is afraid of the ball,
Standing there and watching it pass
And not swinging the bat like he should.
But that is ok.
He is joining in and having fun,
And that is all that matters.
I do not care if he ever hits a ball,
Sinks a basket,
Or makes a touchdown.
I am just proud to see him take part,
To know how far he has come,
To see the look in his eyes,
And the smile on his face.
A smile that is there,
Even when he plays alone.
That is enough for me.
He will always be
My Superman!!!
