spawning from the musically void state of arkansas and the fraternity infested town of conway, faulkner pushes conceptual rock music into the local scene.  being a genre stereotypically engineered by older, more seasoned musicians;  faulkner tends to add a nice flare of youthful aggression to their music, giving it a more roller-coaster effect than your average space boogie.

several of the members, including jason meeks (percussionist), started off in more up-beat, hardcore punk bands.  while finishing high school in hot springs, arkansas, jason found himself playing in a punk band called disturbed 27, and through mutual friends, later met john perros (bassist).  the two eventually joined up with some others to form a punk/rapcore band called h-bomb sushi.  h-bomb turned out to be a notable band and was ironically dubbed "the new hot springs all stars".  h-bomb also allowed jason and john to meet jimmy evans (guitars, keyboards) through  the local music scene of hot springs.  jimmy, who had been in such projects as the monroes, proprod, and highways and byways, would later introduce his experimental, space rock ideals to faulkner's music.

after the end of h-bomb, jason and john decided that hot springs probably wasn't the best place for what they wanted to do.  jason's father lived in the college town of conway, and the two decided that it might provide a more open audience to their style of indie rock.  through mutual friends in the conway music scene, jason and john met up with randy vaughn (guitars, vocals) and chad chastain.  randy had previously indulged in a weezer cover band but was now looking for something more original.  this cast
of musicians formed faulkner's predecessor, mable star.  with different musical ideas in mind, chad decided to leave mable star, leaving them in search of another guitarist.  jason and john then asked jimmy evans from hot springs to join the band.  in his acceptance, faulkner was born.

on may 10th of 2000, faulkner recorded their self-produced ep titled "the settings are still wrong...".  the ep shows that the band could be intellectual and not sacrifice the gift of rocking out.  with the power of the studio, the boys got a taste of production technique.  they were able to expand their music with more detail than in a live setting of which they had played before. in november of 2001, the members of faulkner came to the conclusion of adding a 5th member to the band.  at this point, faulkner was changeing its sound, trying to transform into something new and refreshing.  but practice after practice, something seemed to be missing.  that's when abram morphew joined in.  he brought his multi effects, guitar, bass, computer, and keyboard with him.  faulkner continues working and writing more of their intelligent, storyboard rock.  in the summer of 2000, they did a regional southwest tour to promote their ep with another local conway favorite, thirty.  they've played with several notable bands, including don cabellero, the paper chase, dianogah, traindodge, and pop unknown. refer to the faulkner website at www.oocities.org/faullkner (that's faulkner with two l's) for future releases, and show dates.
