| Bio Julianne was born to a miliatry judge- father and a scottish social worker- mother, and named Julie Anne Smith. She found she had to change her name when she registered with the Actors Guild, as every variation of her name had been taken! So she combined her first two names and adopted her fathers middle name as her surname and became Julianne Moore. She spent most of her early years travelling to over 24 places around the world(!) before getting a place in Boston University. Here she earnt her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in acting. After graduation in 1983, she moved to New York where she worked extensively in theatre. Despite her formal training Julianne fell into the trap most good looking actresses fall into-Soaps and miniseries! She briefly appeared in day time serial Edge of the Night, and then between 1985-1988 she played 2 half sisters Frannie and Sabrina in As the World Turns. She then went on to star in forgettable roles in movies such as Money, Power, Murder and Cast a Deadly Spell before she began to win more noted roles such as The Hand That Rocks the Cradle and Harrison Ford's The Fugitive-In which she made such an impression on Steven Speilberg he cast her in Jurassic Park Sequel without an audition! After getting numerous roles in high profile films, Julianne was being recognised for her talent! It was her role in The End Of The Affair that earnt her an Oscar Nomination for Best Actress. | She has a son-Caleb born 4th December 1997 (nice birthday present even if a day late). 3rd April 2000-She got engaged to Bart Freundlich the father of her children.. Had her second child on 11th April 2002 called Liv Helen. She is Left handed. She lost 10 pounds off her already petite frame, in order to prtray a suffering housewife for her role in Safe!!
