| Name: Melina Kanakaredes (pronounced "can-a-car-ree-dees") Bday: 23rd April 1967, Akron Ohio, USA Age: 37 Height: 5'7'' Bio Melina grew up in Akron as the youngest of 3 daughters in an Greek-American family. She become involved in dance and theatrical productions as a youngster with her sisters, her 1st performance was in a community play of Tom Sawyer. She continued in theatre as a teenager working with various groups in New York. She went to Firestone High School and graduated from it in 1985, she then went on to Ohio State Univesity to study music dance and theatre, but soon decided to drop out due to lack of unity between the music and theatre departments. She transfered to Pittsburgh and soon began acting in commercials. She graduated with a degree in fine arts and moved to New York, supporting herself with off-broadway shows and waitressing. She was then spotted by an agent and became known as the greek-emigrant Eleni Andros Cooper in The Guiding Light, which earnt her 2 emmy nominations. This led to various roles in NYPD Blue, OZ, The Practice, Due South and in features such as The Long Kiss Goodnight, Rounders and Dangerous Beauty. Her biggest break came in 2000 with the role of Dr Sydney Hansen in NBC's drama Providence. Her biggest film, to date, is starring opposite Edward Burns and Robert De Niro in 15 Minutes. Off Set she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, swimming and working out with the Pilates programme. Trivia Married to Peter Constantinades (6th Sep 1992-present day) who is a chef. Has 2 daughters, Zoe born 23rd May 2000 weighing 7lbs, 12oz and Karina born 25th January 2003 Was unable to do My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which she was considered for because of 2nd pregnancy.
