Nicole Kidman
Name: Nicole Mary Kidman (Nic)
B-Day: 20th June 1967, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA
Age: 37
Height: 5'101/2''

Bio
Despite popular belief Nicole was actually born in Hawaii, not Austrailia, to parents Anthony and Janelle Kidman.  Anthony was a biochemist and he was in Hawaii for research, although almost immediately after Nicole was born they moved to Washington DC so her father could persue his research project.  When Nicole was 3 they moved back to their native home in Austrailia.

Nicoles 1st love was ballet, but eventually took up mime and drama as well.  Throughout her teenage years drama became her kind of refuge, as her class mates often teased Nicole about her height and curly hair. So while they were out having fun in the sun, fair skinned Nicole retreated to the theatres to practise her craft.

Nicole eventually dropped out of high school to persue acting full time.  She started appearing in movies at the age of 15/16, landing the role in popular aussie film 'Bush Christmas' (1983). The film got her a number of TV offers such as, 'BMX Bandits' (1983) and 'Vietnam' (1986) which earned her 1st AFI award (Austrailian Film Institute).  With her agents help she eventually got her first US role in Dead Calm in 1989 starring opposite Sam Neil and Billy Zane.

Her next US film was Days of Thunder(1990) where she first met Tom Cruise, the man who she would marry later that year on December 24th 1990, after a whirlwind romance.  Tom was keen to get Nicole involved in this project, initially called Dayotona, after seeing her performance in Dead Calm.  After noticing the height difference Nicole felt sure she wouldnt get the role, after all what super star hunk would want a girlfriend that was taller? But Tom didnt seem to mind and persuaded her to join the cast.

After marrying Tom, although she was still starring in films such as Flirting (1990) and Billy Bathgate(1990), she became known as "Tom Cruise's wife", rather than the actress she deserved to be. To try and get the critics on her side she spiced her image up by seducing Val Kilmer in Batman Forever (1995) but it was in the film 'To Die For' that proved to be her breakthrough role, for which she took home a Golden Globe award.

Family life has always been important to Nicole and she and Tom adopted two children Isobella Jane (born December 22nd 1992) and Connor Anthony (born January 17th 1995).  Although they appeared to have a rock solid marriage the two announced, on 5th February 2001, that they were getting divorced. Their divorce became final August 8th 2001 ten years after they were married.

The divorce cleary upset Nicole and adding to that pain she suffered the pain of losing Tom's baby through a miscarriage. She returned to Austrailia with her two kids, to be with family and friends and get the support she needed to get through the hard time without the press around to exploit it. However when the divorce became final she was reported saying "Now i can wear heels" suggesting that she was trying to approach the situation with some humour.

After her divorce she was allowed to became a big star in her own right, starring in oscar nominated 'Moulin Rouge'(my personal fave!), 'The Others' and 'The Hours'.  She recieved the Golden Globe for best actress in 2002 for her role in Moulin Rouge.  She is now quite arguably the most famous actress in Hollywood. She has now also just won the Golden Globe and Oscar! for best actress 2003 for The Hours, and is nominated for her 3rd golden globe in a row for her role in Cold Mountain opposite Jude Law.  She has many films in the process of production that will no doubt be hits all over the world when they are released within the next couple of years.

Nicole was reported to be engaged to Lenny Kravitz (2004) and after being asked if this was true on the Jay Leno show, she laughed and in coy way said that she was not going to say anything until she is married to someone because she was in a 'public thing' before and she couldn't go through that again. It has now been reported that the two have broken up after she caught him cheating!
