Pierrette Adams is probably one of the most panafrican female singers. Born in Congo-Brazzaville,
her career took off when she lived in Côte d'Ivoire. Using various popular and dancable styles, she really sings
about injustice, relationships between men and women, and men being unfaithful to their wives. Although she is shy, her
strong voice helps her to bring about the message. Her social engagement stems maybe from her difficult childhood, on her first album she was inspired by a news item about a case of child abuse, a delicate subject in Africa as anywhere. Also, she introduced the For many years she has lived in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, because of her husband's work in that country. She was soon accepted by the public in that country and her biggest successes date from the period of her life she spent in Côte d'Ivoire. In September 2002, her husband was assigned to work in Dakar (Senegal) and Pierrette now works from her new base in Dakar. Due to circumstances in Côte d'Ivoire, she had to stop her activities helping homeless children in Abidjan.
