What is on this Page: Crank turn, Getting in the car, Getting out of the car, Other issues
Crank Turn: This part of the course looks like a Tetris piece.

Use the same proceedure as for the s-curve regarding signalling, stopping, and head checking.

Additionally, to avoid either hitting the barriers or running off the course, approach the entrance with the wheels straight (remember that you should be slightly to the left or right depending on which way you will turn). When the white line on the crank turn is perpendicular and slightly behind the axel of the front tires, turn the wheel hard. This will ensure that you will miss the barriers and that the back wheel will track far enough away from the edge.

Follow roughly the same procedure for the other two turns in the crank section, though your front wheels will probably not be parallel for the next 90 degree turn.

Exit the crank turn the same way as the s-curve using the same procedure.
Assuming a left into the Crank turns
1. Procedure for moving lane position to the left (head checks)

2. Last chance head checks. Turn wheel when front axel is slightly in front of perpendicular white line.

3. Be ready for  the next curve

4. Signal which way you will go on exiting and begin head checks.

5. Move head checks, do not stop, and exit crank turns.
Getting in the Car: While it may seem silly, you can miss points by not getting in the car and getting set properly.

The proctor will already be in the car so wait for him to ask you to get in. Standing by the drivers door, take a good hard look to the front of the car and then to the back (don't forget your "yoshi" es). Get in. Lock the door, adjust the seat, buckle up and put your foot on the break.

The proctor will say something like "When you are ready, let's begin." But don't get all worked up. Next adjust the mirrors. Physically touch the rear-view mirror, even if it is perfect. Take a good solid look around the car fropm the lef-rear, around the front, and to the right-rear. Make sure your foot is on the break, start the car, put it in gear, and release the emergency greak.

Turn on the turn signal, check again to the right-rear when you first start to move, and again when you merge into "traffic".
Drive like you have never driven before. Things happen fast on the course, one thing after the next, so make sure you know what needs to be done and where.
Getting out of the Car: Even if you have made it all the way around the course, the test is not over. If they want to be really mean they can still take points off at the end.

You should have stopped the car no more than 30 cm away from the left edge of the road. Put on the emergency break, put the car in park, turn off the car, unbuckle your seat belt and take another good look around the car from left-rear to right-rear. Again, before getting out of the car, look to the right-rear again..
Other Issues: Do not wear any open-toed  or open-heeled shoes when taking the driving exam. Do not wear shoes with big soles. Do not wear sandals, you will fail on-sight.

If you are sensetive to sunlight, make sure the testing center knows this. It should be no problem for you to wear sunglasses but check first.

There are several places to eat around Ino and one canteen in the center. You will be there over lunch.

Ino is not a foreign language friendly place. Signs are all in kanji and may pose a problem. If you can hold a conversation, or at least get out key nouns, you'll do fine.
If you have failed so horribly that the proctor knows there is no way you passed, he will tell you what you did wrong and send you home. He will also give you a bunch of papers to bring with you next time. Don't loose them.  You can retake the test any day between Monday and Thursday, arrive before 11am, no appointment needed, and pay your \3,500 test fee.

If you didn't fail right off and there is a chance you passed, they will let you stew for a bit in the waiting room while they total up your missed points.  If you failed, they will give you the papers I mentioned above and send you home. If you passed, you begin a waiting game that will have you finished by 4pm, no earlier.
If you passed...
