Dispatches from Penury, Japan
This is not in Mihara

This dialogue box is awaiting its muse...
Greetings and welcome to my little corner of the web! This is my first foray into the world of web sites and as such you should not expect much. I'm piecing this together as I go. Once I get this thing down I will endeavor to move to a place that will not assail you with ads. My apologies and thanks for visiting!
Life in
Mihara
The folks here are wonderful, the kids amazing, and I have been rather fortunate in my job placement. The air is clean, the evenings quite, and nature plentiful. Occasionally I will descend from my mountain solitude to practice Kyudo (Japanese archery), go shopping, explore Shikoku, or terrorize the locals. Sometimes all at the same time. What follows is a hopefully rotating collection of pictures of life in Mihara and its environs that may help some people understand a little more about, Kyudo, rural Japan, me, and the JET Program (the easiest job you will ever love).
Mihara
As a Japan Exchange and Teaching Program participant I teach English to elementary and middle school students. I am posted to the small village of Mihara in Kochi Prefecture, on Japan's fourth largest island, Shikoku. To say Mihara is rural is saying the least. More on Mihara and Kochi later.
