The "For Better or For Worse" Mailing List (otherwise known as The FBoFW Forum) is an offering of The "FBoFW" Page. The first real mailing happened on August 12, 1999. The purpose of the listserv is for FBoFW fans to discuss and exchange news, information, thoughts and opinions about FBoFW. We also commonly like sharing commentary on current happenings in the strip and sometimes even predicting what might happen next. Basically, anything FBoFW goes! However, it's not considered completely off-topic to discuss happenings in our personal lives either, though. We're very interested in whatever fellow list members want to share.

B. How to subscribe

You may subscribe either through The 'FBoFW' Page or via Yahoo Group's website. You can also subscribe by sending an email to fbofw-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. After you subscribe, you will receive an email asking you to confirm the subscription request. This is an important step, as it will prevent someone signing you up for something without your knowledge, as a joke. Follow the instructions in the email, and you will then be subscribed! :)

C. How to unsubscribe

To unsubscribe, either go through Yahoo Group's web interface (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/fbofw), or alternatively, send an e-mail to fbofw-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com. If you are subscribed with multiple addresses, you will need to unsubscribe all of them. If, after having done this, you still have problems, please email the list administrator at fbofw-owner@yahoogroups.com for help. Please do not post your unsubscription request to the list!

D. To lurk or not to lurk

We've been in existence for over a year now, and have always encouraged everyone to participate in the discussions. We won't mind at all, if you just jump right in and say 'hallo!' You'll surely get many friendly welcomes and we'll always be happy to hear from you too. :)

E. Basic netiquette

Just a few basic guidelines that we request you try your best to follow. When responding to posts, please try to include only the pertinent quoted text, instead of sending back an original post and a one or two line response. Please try to keep your .sig file smaller than your responses too. Also remember that when you hit "reply" to a post, it goes to the entire list. And finally, if you ever run into any problems with the technical side of this list, please don't hesitate to send an e-mail to the owner at fbofw-owner@yahoogroups.com. She'll be happy to help you get it figured it out.

F. Content

Well, unlike some lists, the owner here does not require that all posts be strictly about FBoFW. Instead, the aim is to be more like part the Patterson family -- a big, supportive family-like group. You'll probably find that most posts do have something FBoFW related in them, but often that something might only start out the discussion. If you want to share how a certain strip really connected to something happening in your own life, feel free to go ahead and share if you want. For the most part, we like sharing the ups and downs of life, just as much as we enjoy sharing major FBoFW news (i.e. new books, videos, storylines or even web site updates). Obviously, as this is a family-type list, your content should be appropriate. Inappropriate language or content will not be tolerated. But other than that, there is no real constraint on the format or content of your posts (although please do see the next section).

G. Chain letters/forwards/urban legends/etc.

Urban Legends and Hoaxes have no place here. This includes almost all chain letters and virus warnings. When in doubt, please consult http://www.urbanlegends.com before forwarding. The internet hoax is just one form of an urban legend. Therefore, please consult http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org before forwarding any virus warnings too. Basically we just want to hear about you and FBoFW!
