My Kayaking Pictures of the Ten Thousand Islands, Florida

We went to the Everglades for a four or five days Kayak trip. We flew from Edmonton to Fort Myers from there we took a taxi to Everglades City. I think it cost me 140.00 dollars US. I did not have any choice because as far as I knew there was no buses or trains to the National Park. I registered my trip with the National Parks Services. Basically my trip was going to be a circle. I was going to start in Chokoloskee, go to Lostman's River and go back to Everglades City via the Widerness Waterway and the Lopez River. The rangers told me that trip was too ambitious for the time available. I decided to use the closer Chatham River instead of the Lostmans. I felt better and I was thankful for the suggestion.

We ran into a few problems at the beginning, having no car did not help. We had to buy our supplies. I needed to phone home but my Virgen cellphone did not work. I had to phone my wife to make arrangements to come and pick us up. It took me awhile to find a phone. I also lost time looking for white gas and for a fishing license. We were running late, it was windy and I had problems with my rudder. I also had problems finding the Rabbit Key pass. I decided to call it quits so I would not put my girl in danger.

I decided to stay at the campground in Chokoloskee and do day trips. We went to the Lopez campground, Sandfly Island, Everglades City, Rabbit Key (Boat) and we did some fishing tours. Enjoy my pictures.
