Welcome to the home page of the First Day School Committee of Palo Alto Friends Meeting. This site is intended as a resource of children, parents, teachers, and everyone else who may have an interest in the activities of First Day School. The site's primary purpose is to facilitate communication by consolidating information in a single, easily accessible place. The Curriculum page includes a description of this year's curriculum, a calendar of topics for each month, and a brief summary of the activities planned for each first day, The Teachers & Helpers page has a schedule of who will be teaching and helping out each first day. The Site Updates page has a chronogical listing of the changes made to the site. We hope you find the site helpful. Summer Schedule
During Summer, the regular First Day School curriculum is replaced by a more relaxed approach. The Committee asks members and attenders to sign up in advance to teach one or more Sundays. There are no set topics. Typically we play games, sing, listen to stories, or whatever. In September, we usually prepare crafts or baked goods for the Harvest Festival. If you have something you would like to share with the young people of the Meeting, this is your chance.
Our regular childcare providers also take vacation for part ot the summer. We ask for volunteers to substitute for them. This is you chance to meet a wonderful group of preschoolers.

|
First Day School for elementary-age children meets every Sunday at 10:30 AM in the Old Meeting House. The children join Meeting for Worship at 11:15.
The Teen Group for Middle School and High School ages meets 2nd and 4th Sundays in the Library at 10:30 AM. On the 1st and 3rd Sundays the teens attend Meeting for Worship. Fifth Sundays will be special topics.
Childcare for preschoolers is provided from 10:30 to 12:00 in the nursery school next to the Old Meeting House. |

First Day School Committee Meetings are held on the first Sunday of the month at 12:15 PM, in the Old Meeting House. |
