August 2, 2002

Today's appointment was at 9:00 a.m. After I checked in, the nurse Ms. Nati Mora did the
routine tests. I gave her some glass bangles, that my mom had bought from India.
          She was very happy.
Then we met Dr. Lurvey. He checked the baby's heart beat and once again mentioned that
everything looks normal and that I should just wait for labor.

Since it was my last appointment with him before the due date, we took a picture with him.

Seen in this picture are Dr. Lurvey, the nurse Ms. Nati Mora, my mom, Sathish and
me (with the little one inside me).

One of our friends Nagalakshmi delivered a baby girl early morning today. After meeting
Dr. Lurvey, we went to see her and her daughter - Sanjana - a sweet baby girl.

My next appointment is on 8th August '02 at 9 a.m. with Dr. Williams.

August 8, 2002

Today was my last appointment before the D'day. Uh..oh!! I am going to miss these
          appointments.

I had an internal exam and Dr. Williams said that I have not dilated at all. She checked
the baby's heart beat which was quiet normal. She asked me to get an appointment scheduled
          for the next week.

While I was trying to get my next appointment scheduled, I bumped into
Dr. Lurvey and he asked me how I was doing. He basically wanted to know if I had any
contractions. Apparently, I did not have any.
So, he decided to induce labor on the 16th Aug '02.
He was going to be on call that day in Labor and Delivery. He told me that I will have to be
in the hospital at 7:30 a.m. to be induced into labor and added that he would come and
          meet me around 8:30 a.m.
May be I will go into labor naturally before that !!!!?????!!!!!!

August 10, 2002 - The D'Day

Today - the D'Day and no symptoms of going into labor.

In the evening, we went to Artesia - fondly called "Little India" by many in Los Angeles.
We went to the Sanathana Dharma Temple near Artesia. Indian Independence Day (15th Aug)
is fast approaching. Hence there was a "Food Mela (Food Festival)" in Artesia.
My mom, Sathish and I had a nice time there. We got back home by 7 p.m.

I am getting really restless - when will this get over????? or Should I have to wait till
16th?????????? My thoughts aren't flowing either to write anything now.
God willing, the next time I start writing, I will have a healthy baby in my arms.
