Sathish and I went to the hospital at 2:15 p.m.
The Nurse Ms. Nati Mora called me in and did the routine tests. She also told us the
results of the Glucose Tolerance Test that was done the previous month. She said that
I passed the test(no gestational diabetes). But the report also indicated that
I was anemic. So, she asked me to eat a lot of leafy and green vegetables.
Then we were asked to wait in the exam room for Dr. Lurvey.

Dr. Lurvey came in at 3:00 p.m. He checked the baby's heart beart and once again
said that I was doing very normal and that the baby is also just the right size.
He again went over the results of the One Hour Glucose Tolerance Test that was
done the previous month. He also mentioned that I was anemic and advised me to
          take iron tablets.

Meanwhile, I was occasionally having a pain on the right side of my chest during the
previous month and mentioned that to Dr. Lurvey. He mentioned that the spot where I had
the pain is that of Gall Bladder. He did not suspect anything, but to make things sure
he wanted me to take a blood test for "T.Bili". He was quite positive that nothing
could be wrong with Gall Bladder, but just wanted to confirm that. Since I was having
the pain most of the times after a meal, he said that it could also simply mean that
the baby is kicking too hard !!!

Dr. Lurvey said that we could go one more time with 4 weeks appointment and then
make the appointments more closer. The next appointment has been scheduled for the
          1st July '02 at 3:30 p.m.

We also went and pre-registered for my admission to the hospital, so that when I come
in for delivery, I don't have to wait for finishing all the paper work.

It's been a week since that blood test was done. Since I'vent heard anything from
the doctor or the nurse, I think my Gall Bladder is functioning normally.

Today is also the day of a partial Solar Eclipse. The Moon is going to glide in front of
the Sun as it sets over parts of North America. The eclipse time in Los Angeles begins
at 5:13 p.m., the maximum is at 6:22 p.m. and ends at 7:23 p.m. According to Hindu Myth,
pregnant women shouldn't be going out before, during and after the eclipse!!!
The priest at the Malibu Temple in Los Angeles advised all pregnant women to stay indoors
          between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m. today (oops!!!!).

It is 7:01 p.m. now and I am still at work, working on this and for the clock to strike 8
so that I can leave!!! It is a long day at work !!!

Today morning, two of my friends and colleagues at work - Dilpreet and Ami told me that
they wanted to arrange a Baby Shower for me. They decided to have that on
          20th June'02.

June 20, 2002

Baby Shower at work - The shower was scheduled at 2:00 p.m. and we all assembled at the
cafeteria. Ami got a little delayed in getting the cake. She came in at 2:15 p.m.
Most of my colleagues whom I know had made it for the Baby Shower. After cutting the cake
that Ami had bought, I was given a card and some gifts. The gifts included a quilt, a pillow
a nursery kit, Johnson's baby gift set, some dresses, booties, bibs etc for the baby.
Ami and Dilpreet also gave me some cash that was collected and I used that to buy a bassinet.
The picture below shows that gifts that I received for the shower.

"Seemandham" is an Indian version of Baby Shower or could Baby Shower be called
          "An American version of Seemandham??".

This function is typically held for pregnant women.
The purpose of this function is to invoke protection from evil spirits
for the pregnant woman and her baby. The parents-in-law of the pregnant woman
normally conduct this function at their home.

Since we are in Los Angeles now and Sathish's parents are in India, we decided to
have the function at the Malibu Temple in Los Angeles. This has to be done on
an auspicious day. When we called up Sathish's parents, they informed us that
14th of July '02 seems to be a very auspicious day for this function.
Accordingly we called up Malibu Temple and fixed up this function for the 14th of July '02.

My mother is coming to Los Angeles from India, to help me out during delivery and
after the birth of our baby. Her tickets have been booked to reach Los Angeles on the
5th of July '02 so that she can guide and help us thru' the "Seemandham" function also.
Both of us are eagerly awaiting her arrival here.
