WEDDING PICTURES
(The evening prior to Wedding Day)

                    On the evening prior to the wedding day, the bride groom is to be
                    brought in a procession, from the temple, in a flower decorated car.
                    He is escorted by the bride's parents, and welcomed at the marriage
                    hall (called the MANDAPAM), which is the bride's abode. Nadaswaram
                    band leads the way along the streets, the flower decorated car,
                    jam-packed with children.

                    This is a social function called "JAANA VASAM" in South India.

After reaching the mandapam,
there is a formal ceremony of
betrothal.This ceremony is called
"NICHAYATHARTHAM".


                    After Nichayathartham,
                    new clothes are given to
                    the bride and the groom.
