EFFICIENCY

"But Amanda, candles are inefficient as a light source."

"But they are not for efficiency, dear T'Pol, but for mood. They do not just light this bedroom; they give off an air of romance and adventure."

"They are of only intangible and abstract use then?" she asked.

I leaned out of bed and snagged one the right size.

"Not entirely," I said, snuffing out the flame and wetting the still-warm taper within my mouth.

After seven minutes of mutually enjoyable foreplay, the candle was probing my dear Vulcan's deepest mysteries.

"I stand corrected," she groaned. "It is a useful tool."
