On 10/99, the Atlantic County SPCA raided the Loving Ferrets and Exotic Animals Shelter at 416 West Herschel Street, Galloway Township, NJ. They removed 113 animals from the home, all in horrible condition; no food, no water, dead animals and live animals in the same cages...it was hell on earth for those animals.
Fast forward to today 2/8/01. Linda Rodriguez (the owner and operator of Loving Ferrets) has just basically had all the charges dropped against her. Due to an error with the search warrant served by the Atlantic County SPCA, the photographic evidence and eyewitness evidence is all suppressed.
This leaves Loving Ferrets open and operational, and free to continue their horrible shelter practices.
What can you do to help? Lots. It starts here. Letter writing. I will provide you templates of letters to be sent to the New Jersey Department of Fish, Game & Wildlife (who licenses ferret shelters), the Galloway Township Mayor, Local newspapers, and others. Please, this is a small town she lives in. For them to get an outpouring of letters will force them to take action, and at least keep a close eye on her, if not more. Even if we can't shut her down we just want all the animals in her care to be safe and taken care of properly--no animal deserves to die scared, hungry and alone.
