June 27, 2002--Today I caved. I couldn't help it.
I saw this beautiful boy on Saturday the 22nd and considered buying him then, but thought Jason would kill me!
Of course when I got home and told him about it he's like "well you know how much money you have on your credit card". DOH!
I tried to get him out of my system, but I just couldn't stop thinking about him. I couldn't even sleep! I don't think Jason
knew how much this boy was getting to me. I kept bugging him to take me out to the store so I could at least show him how cute he was.
He kept telling me no and then all of a sudden he took me out on Wednesday. As soon as Jason saw him he said "oh boy, he really is cute!"
Jason held the little black mitt boy and sure enough the little squirt gave him kisses! Jason gave him back to me and said "I have to think about it."
So Jason went home to think, and I went home to beg! I hadn't really wanted a kit in a long time, but this boy just called out to me. I've never
had such a strong connection to a ferret in a pet store before. So after work on Thursday we went out to see if he was still there. Sure enough he was. But
we got lucky because the manager said that he had taken one down to Flint the night before and he said that he was glad that he didn't take the black mitt since
we were there to buy him! So we packed him up and home we went. :)
First we introduced him to Texas, who didn't seem that concerned with him. Then came George...George sniffed him and licked his
ears...a good sign! Then Zoe...lots of sniffing and ear licking! YEA! So we let the kids out to play together, minus Tex, because he was too big. There was a lot more butt
sniffing and ear cleaning, but it all went rather well. We placed them in the same cage that night and they all slept together within hours. Zoe has really taken to him, and seems to
look out for him like a mother ferret would. George is more interested in his cookie monster toy. ;-) So after a few days of thinking up names, we've decided on Kolby. It just fits.
So please welcome Kolby Briscoe Harper into our family!
*Update* Kolby is getting along with both George and Zoe and there's no picking on anybody now! Well, maybe all three gang up on the kitty! ;-) And our little boy isn't so little anymore! Kolby weighed in at 3 pounds at 4 months old!
