Puddy
It's been awhile since I've updated my website, and unfortunately my dear Puddy has passed away. We found Sept. 20, 2005 that he had Chronic Renal Failure (CRF). We were told it could be managed with a special diet and subcutaneous fluids (sub-q) for the remainder of his life. But there was no way that our vet could guarantee how long we would have with him. Some cats can live years with CRF. Unfortunately that was not meant to be for our Puddy. He wouldn't eat, he didn't tolerate the sub-q fluids at first, and then he got even more wobbley on his feet. It got to the point where I couldn't sleep through the whole night, and would have to hold poor Puddy up in his litter box just for him to eliminate. It was terrible and I wouldn't wish it upon any cat or cat owner. So the decision was made to help him cross the Rainbow Bridge. I know he's there waiting for me....
Puddy came to us in March of 2004. His previous owner had passed away. The woman's daughter was looking to place three purebred persians and one maine coon mix. I had always wanted a persian or an exotic shorthair so I jumped at the chance to help. The daughter brought Puddy to us and after an emotional conversation she relinquished custody. I know it was very difficult for her to do. We try to stay in contact so that she'll always know how Puddy is doing. It's one way to keep her mom alive.
Puddy is such a lovey cat. He is a 12 year old (will be 13 this year!) purebred black and white bicolor persian. He loves to be craddled like a baby and loves any attention he can get. He doesn't really like to be brushed out nor does he like his eyes wiped, but he tolerates it....especially if he gets some Whisker Lickin's treats afterwards! Most of the time you'll find Puddy sleeping, however he does like to follow us around. He always wants to be close to you. He's found the joy in watching birds outside and will sit with the other cats at the screen door. He's definitely found a friend in Texas. The boys like sleeping near one another. And when they're not doing that Puddy is laying by my head in bed. Puddy walked right into this house and acted like he owned it....he's done the same with my heart. :)
