Stormy
This is our Stormy! She's our third rescue ferret. She came to us in November of 2002. At the time our ferrets were living at Jason's parent's house because we couldn't have pets in our apartment. We went over one day to let the ferrets out to play and their next door neighbor stopped us before we went in the house. He said something to the extent of "you guys have ferrets right?" And of course we replied, "yes." "Do you want another one?" He asked. We kind of looked at one another and decided to go over and talk to him. He said that he and his wife just didn't have time for her and she was living down in the basement. She was up to date on vaccinations, but would be needing them soon. I wanted to see her so he brought up this skinny little girl. Just beautiful. I asked if we could introduce her to our kids and see how it went and if we'd be able to take her. He said that was fine. So back over to the house we went. We let the kids out together and I've never seen ferrets act this way before! Stormy was totally freaked out. She was so scared of the other ferrets that she just sort of fell over. I thought maybe she had low blood sugar, but it turns out that she was just petrified. We seperated them and discussed it. We weren't sure we could take on another ferret. But after sleeping on it, and thinking about her being lonely down in that basement we had to say yes. She's been in her own cage ever since. She gets along famously with Kolby, but any other ferret seems to scare the crap right out of her, especially Zoe. Stormy is a really good girl. She's a real beauty. Her only fault is that she likes to climb the cage. ;-) All in all I guess that's not so bad, but she scares me when she gets up too high! She's a kissy girl, who loves to eat meat, and thinks she's getting something special when she can get into the cat food we keep in the bedroom. ;-) She came to us with the name Rikki, but we had to change it. It didn't fit at all. She has a tiny little blaze on her head and she's fast as a bolt of lightning so, Stormy it was. :)
