The Harmony VFD responded to a total of 157 calls in 2003. This was 26 calls more then in the year 2002. This was a new record for emergency runs in a one year period.
Department News
1.The Department welcomes any male or female at least 16 years old to join us in providing the community with FIRE protection, FIRE education, RESCUE, and EMS first responder, services. 2. The Harmony Volunteer Fire Department is now meeting on the second and forth Tuesday nights of each month beginning at 7:00 pm with our business meeting lasting about 1 hour, then we begin training for a hour or two. Our other training nights are on the first and third Tuesday nights of each month beginning at 7:00 pm.
3. The Harmony VFD has now received both the new Scott SCBA's and the new Morning Pride PBI turnout gear that we have purchased with our FEMA Fire Act Grant award. In addition to the Fire Act Grant the Harmony VFD has received 2 additional funding grants from the Texas Forestry Service. The first grant was far 5 sets of new Lion Nomex Advanced turnout gear, which the dept received in September 2003, and the second grant is for a Large Brush truck, which the dept. has now ordered from AG Meire in Belton Texas. This large Brush truck will be called ENGINE 2 and is a Ford F650 cab and chassis with a brush truck configuration for use in all firefighting done by the dept. 4. Officers elected for the Harmony VFD for the year 2004 are: Fire Chief Craig Lambert, Assistant Fire Chief, Chaplin, and Training Cordinator Alvin McCool, Captains Joe Bass and Steve Kollman, Lts. Martin Lambert, Dan Odom, Dareen Sosebee, and Barbara Lambert, Treasurer Dan Odom, Secretary Barbara Lambert, Public Information officer Darren Sosebee, and Medical EMS Coordinator Steve Kollman.
5. The Harmony VFD is now selling our community cookbooks. The cost of each cookbook is $7.00. If you are interested in buying one please contact any member or email the dept. at Harmonyvfd@firehousemail.com to get the dept. address to send the money to. The proceeds from the sell of these cookbooks will help us to purchace new hoses for our newer Firefighting Engine. The Dept. would like to thank everyone who provided a recipe for the cookbook and to all who purchase a cookbook to help us out.
6. The Harmony VFD welcomes our newest member, Steve Baker. Steve joins as a Firefighter.
7. The Harmony VFD would like to thank Walmart Stores Inc. and Walmart Store #146 in Gilmer for their donation of $1,000 to help with our purchase of the slide in unit for Booster 2.
8. The Harmony VFD is now selling our fire dept. patch to anyone interested in adding it to their collection. The cost of each patch is $7.00. To purchase one of our patches please send a check made out to the Harmony Consolidated Volunteer Fire Dept. and a self addressed stamp envelope to
