Background Music: Eyes On Me

***

Life goes on as Hyolee continues to revolve around the hearts of Kangta and his best friend, Hyesung.  The year is finally ending, and the biggest event of all highschoolers lies in front of their path, the prom. Kangta is walking down the hallway with Hyolee, they are talking about how they will all go their separate ways once out of this school.  But kangta’s mind is off somewhere.  He sees Hyolee in front of him, dressed in a white silk dress that fits her body perfectly.  There was a lace part covering her front and arms.  He is taking out a diamond necklace that shines like the Polaris.  Hyolee is exclaiming with joy, her eyes shining with tears as Kangta puts his arms around her heck and put it on for her.  His hands stayed there and they begin to dance.  Hyolee was moving closer, closer...

Hyolee: Kangta! Kangta!

Kangta: Huh?

Kangta’s mind drifts back to reality as Hyolee’s image becomes focused in his eyes once again.  She has a worried expression on her face.

Hyolee: You have been studying too hard for the finals, Kangta. Go home and catch up with your sleep.

Kangta: Hyolee! (Kangta suddenly says)

Kangta: I was wondering...

Kangta wants to ask Hyolee to the prom, but he is suddenly worried that she already has a date or that she doesn’t want to go with him.  A picture of Hyesung and Hyolee together suddenly appears in his mind.

Hyolee: Yes, Kangta?

Kangta: Would you... would you... (Kangta cannot get the words out of his mouth.)

Hyolee: Yes!

Kangta is confused. He has not even asked her yet!

Hyolee: Yes, Kangta. I will go to the prom with you. I’ve been waiting for so long. I was afraid you would never ask me.

Kangta is overjoyed. He grabs Hyolee’s hand and smiled at her happily. They walk down the hallway together, looking like a pair of very much in loved lovers. Meanwhile, Eugene is coming out of a classroom, her hands loaded with heavy books. She looks up and sees Kangta and Hyolee walking down the hallway hand in hand, laughing happily with each other. Her heart feels as though it is being pierced by a sharp knife into a million pieces. She suddenly loses all her strength. Her books fall to the ground making a big mess.

Kangta, busy laughing with Hyolee, is completely unaware of Eugene's sadness as he walks by her without even noticing she is there. Eugene continues to stare after the loving couple until they disappear around the corner. Kangta is lost to her, forever. She feels sick. She quickly gathers up all her books and walks out of the building. Her feet, moving automatically, take her to the park where she and Kangta had become united after their long separation since childhood. Her mind is full of images with Kangta and Hyolee together. The sky suddenly darkens and rain begins to fall. Soon, it is pouring. Eugene is soaked through, but still, she does not leave. She sees a sharp rock in front of her. She picks it up and walks up to the big oak tree standing in the middle of the park and begins carving.

Hyesung is secretly practicing his speech to Hyolee in the washroom. He wants to let her know his feelings for her. He thinks Hyolee likes him better than Kangta and that she would surely go to the prom with him. Just to be safe, he smoothes out his brownish hair with black streaks and adjusted his clothes. He smiles into the mirror, thinking how smart and handsome he looks. He imagines Hyolee’s surprise and joy when he’s asking her to the prom. Hyesung walks out of the washroom full of confidence. He searches the halls for Hyolee, thinking that she must be still in the building since school is just out. He is getting worried as he cannot find Hyolee anywhere in the building. He walks out of the building wondering where she could be. Suddenly he sees her. His face lit up when he sees her laughing so prettily and then dropped again as he sees Kangta beside her. They are standing in front of the school holding hands and teasing each other happily. Hyesung is angry to see Kangta so close to his girl. He thinks that Kangta has stolen Hyolee away from him.

'How could you? My best friend, and Hyolee, how could you do this to me? I love you so much...'

Hyesung talks silently to himself. He doesn’t know what to do except walks quietly away pretending not to see and not to hear their laughter. He goes back to his apartment and tries to think clearly.  All he can think is how Kangta has betrayed him.  He has taken the girl that he loves so much. He decides to fight with Kangta and try to win Hyolee back. Later that night, he calls her.

Ring… ring…

Hyesung: Hyolee, this is Hyesung.

Hyolee: Hey, what’s up? (Hyolee asks innocently.)

Hyesung: Are you busy right now?

Hyolee: No, why?

Hyesung: Why don’t we meet at the beach, I want to talk to you. (Hyesung wants so see Hyolee and tell her how much he loves her.)

Hyolee: All right, I'll sneak out of my parents. Might take awhile, so wait there for me, see ya~~~

When Hyolee walks onto the beach, she sees a big heart and her name in the middle written with dozens of shining white candles.  Hyesung waves her over. He is holding a big bouquet of red roses.

Hyesung: This is for you, my Hyolee. (He whispers to her as she stands in front of him in awe.)

Hyolee: Hyesung~~~ (Hyolee is so surprise she cannot speak.)

Hyesung: Shh…

Hyesung, thinking that he has won Hyolee’s heart finally, pulls her to him and begins kissing her. But...Hyolee pushes him away.

Hyolee: Hyesung, I am sorry, but I am already going with Kangta. We can’t!

Hyesung: Give me a chance, Hyolee. Please!

Hyolee: I am sorry.

Hyolee shakes her head and runs away, dropping the fresh red roses to the ground.  A gust of wind blows, the candles fall over extinguishing the burning fire. The red roses are scattered all over the sand. Hyesung stands alone, watching Hyolee walks away from him. Tears fall from his eyes as he swears to take Hyolee away from Kangta one day. She is so beautiful, so beautiful...
