Thoughts on Coping Strategies To have any semblance of a normal life with FMS it is necessary to recognize your limitations and then develop strategies that will help you function in a manner that at least seems acceptable to you and your vision of yourself. Unfortunately, just when you seem to get things going along smoothly and are congradulating yourself on your coping skills FMS usually flings a new challenge your way. Even if it's only a fibro attack (major worsening of symptons) which you've come to realize comes and goes despite all precautions, it still can throw you off your pace. I have developed some strategies that help me through most things. A fibro attack still throws me totally off and rest seems the only solution. However, I don't believe my fibro attacks last quite as long when paying attention to how I deal with various aspects of my life. |
