'NT towns set for cyclone'

As predicted yesterday, Cyclone Steve re-formed in the Gulf of Carpentaria yesterday and is now threatening NT coastal communities. The cyclone is expected to strengthen into a category 2 storm before it crosses the coast. Meanwhile weather forecasters are soothing the fears of Katherine residents by predicting that a repeat of the 1998 floods is unlikely as the patterns of Cyclone Steve are different to those of Cyclone Les. And the trucks are back on the move again with the Georgina River bridge open again between NT and Queensland.

'Cops in for day of how to spray'

A. Cops taught how to spit without offending;
B. Cops taught how to pee into the urinal or bowl and not everywhere else; or
C. Cops taught how to use a spray can.

'Toddler tragedy shocks SA'

Once again the dark cloud hanging over Adelaide has struck again. A toddler was found dead in his cot, unable to get out, dying from neglect over a number of days. The problem was that his beloved grandad, who was looking after him, had died of a suspected heart attack, probably five days before. The discovery came after locals complained of a foul smell coming from the house. The child's mother collapsed on the scene when told her son was dead. Why didn’t she call?

'Andy escapes Jeff but takes on CLP'

In the second of what appears to be profiles of candidates for Port Darwin, Andy Gough, Greens get a go. He left Victoria to get away from Jeff Kennett only to arrive in Darwin where 'things were even worse'. He believes youth is on his side, being 28, compared to the average age of Territorians of 26. His main issues, the NT Government's support of the Indonesian Government in East Timor and the subsequent eagerness of some Territorians to do business there, more responsible election day practices including the minimisation of electoral posters and the need for social change to tackle anti-social behaviour. He polled 5% of the vote in the last election. Wonder why?

'Desert blooms as inland see floods'

There has been an explosion of animal, bird, fish and plant life in the centre of Australia following the recent rains. Lake Eyre is reportedly now half-full, the first time it has held a decent amount of water since 1989. Pelicans have come back, fish and crustaceans are washing into the lake and even the brine shrimp is being hatched in the flow.

'Baywatch regular bows out'

An explosion of another sort. David Hasselhoff's character is about to be blown away in this seasons finale. But Mr Hasselhoff is upset, saying he thought it was a joke. Wish they'd blow away the series as well.
