Sunday Territorian headlines
'Rioli won't quit'
'Territory Labor MLA Maurice Rioli has no plans to quit politics after suffering a heart attack at his home last Monday'. Despite Rioli being shaky, the media continues to pester him with inane questions after what has obviously been a scary experience. Mind you the media at least is fair - they asked the same questions of Peter Adamson when he had his heart attack.
'Darwin so close to smashing cold record'
And weather hits the news again. Darwin froze again last night with a 12.6C minimum, just 0.5C above the record low for June of 12.1C set in 1963. The maximum was just 25C with jumpers and jackets now starting to smell after five successive days of use. And worse still, the chilly conditions are expected to stay through the week.
'Snake-bite man rushed to RDH'
Despite the cold, some snakes are still active. A Humpty Doo man was rushed to Royal Darwin Hospital after having been bitten by an unknown species of snake yesterday morning. His condition is reportedly unknown. I don’t think so - it is just the media unable to find out - his condition is undoubtedly known to the hopsital staff and probably all his family and friends.
'1090 spiders in her suitcase'
It is not only the Northern Territory where European wildlife smugglers seem to flourish. A French woman tried to smuggle 520 red-legged tarantulas, an endangered species, and 570 other tarantulas into Germany. Now 600 are being sent back to Mexico. What was happening with the other 490 was not reported.
'WOG-GRL causes stir'
The numberplate controversy rages on. The bureaucrats worry about WOG-GRL while PNS-NV remains on the road. Bloody idiots.
