Jo's our last hope for Miss Australia' - Northern Territory News - page 3
It certainly is a hard job being a Miss Australia finalist. Jo Rochford, NT's entrant, was quoted as saying 'What I've been doing is trying to get up-to-date with current affairs issues by reading the paper every day'. Hmmm - with the Northern Territory News as a guide she is a dead cert. Tis a pity that such a loved institution as Miss Australia is falling by the wayside. How are they going to raise the money now?
Alternative fund raising programs
Miss Long Grass - to raise funds for the homeless Miss Mandatory Sentencing - to raise funds for extra cells in prisons Miss Rubbish - to raise funds for Council to pay their garbage bill Miss Ogynist - to raise funds to pay for the Tampon tax Miss Chevious - to raise funds for struggling internet sites
Darwin bids to host Backpacker Nude Olympics
Fancy even thinking of holding such an event in Adelaide where it had to be cancelled because of the cold weather. No chance of cancellation in Darwin and plenty of backpackers.
Maggie's Travel Fears
A highlight on a tediously slow news day. What a touching sory. Maggie Thatcher is apparently scared to travel overseas because she fears she will be arrested like General Pinochet. Didn't know she was accused of such horrendous crimes. Maybe the guilt of whats unreported has caught up with her.
Corporate boxes
You would think that people sitting in corporate boxes at sporting events might just have a passing interest in the sport they have gone to watch. At the Ansett Cup game between West Coast and Essendon at Marrara last night it seemed that cricket between India and Pakistan attracted equally as much attention.
