friday i'm in love

this is another promotional video, and the only release of this live performance version of "friday i'm in love." this is not an actual live performance taken from "show" or any other live cure performance (tv show or something else)...this is actually a mock-performance video playing off the cure's gloomy goth-based image. the band is shot on a small stage in a normal settting, the band is dressed mostly in black and robert plays up the white-face/red-lipstck/tousled-hair image to the fullest. they play "friday i'm in love" and look as serious and bleak as can be... the band--looking very gloom and doom--play along to the happiest and most obviously "up" single/song they've ever released....without breaking a smile or showing any emotion at all--and a faux crowd is shown going absolutely crazy w/excitement...f***ing brilliant--even during the odd vocal "ow woo-woos" towards the end, robert lip-syncs them without a smile or even a hint of happiness. this video was actually shown on mtv at least once, but not often...surely no-one else got the joke...
