  • Here's a lesson or six from one of my Irish student's session last week. The basic tune, Calliope House, was written in 1984 by Boys of the Lough's Dave Richardson. I have included a setting in an MP3 file from The Portland Collection with typical ornaments I might play in the Sligo style. Three more MP3's describe how to play the ornaments and where they might fit into this tune. Beware! Each tune is different and these ornaments fit into hornpipes, reels and other types of tunes differently than they do into this nice jig. Hope this helps!

  • BTW, Yahoo is still shutting down sites that exceed the "download quota", which appears to be 3 or 4 MB! If you can't get all of the files you will have to try again in a day or so. Pretty annoying, Yahoo! Why don't you guys get with the 90's and open it up a little?
