  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • I have been singing and playing music all my life; professionally for over twenty five years in a wide range of venues. My performances on voice, fiddle, guitar, bass, banjo and mandolin feature different fiddle styles, a' capella ballads and sea chanteys as well as humorous songs and rural southern blues. I have developed school programs and workshops emphasizing our colonial heritage with fiddle tunes, maritime songs, children's songs and games as well as English country, square and contra dance. I am a Suzuki Association of America instructor and have a small violin and fiddle teaching studio.

  • Song accepted for inclusion on nationally released compilation, Oasis Acoustic: An Essential Library For The Acoustic Programmer, Volume 39, 2003.
  • Full and By (1994, 2001), recording of sea chanteys and related songs.
  • Something Old... (1993), fiddle tunes with synthesizer accompaniment.
  • First selected to the Pennsylvania Council for the Arts' two year Artists in Education roster of artists eligible for residency matching funds in 1994. Re-rostered in 1997 and 2000.
  • Listed in Pa. Heritage Affairs Commission directory of persons whose material reflects traditional folk culture in Pennsylvania (1990, 1994).
  • Pa. Museum and Historical Commission grant to the trio, La Rose, Young and Wheeler, for study of the Colonel Henry Shoemaker music collection (1990).
