Terri is currently studying for her Bachelor of Music in classical violin at Dalhousie University under international award-winning Prof. Philippe Djokic. She currently plays in the Dalhousie Chamber Orchestra, the Dalhousie Symphony Orchestra and a quartet. She has played with these groups and solo performances throughout Halifax this year including the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts, The Music Room and The Dal Arts Centre. She was chosen to perform on Concerto Night in the Sir James Dunn Theatre for the second year in a row and was given the Georg Tintner Prize for exceptional musical talent. She also had the opportunity to play for Jeanne Lamon, Music Director of Tafelmusik, Andrew Dawes and Paul Robertson, former first violinist of the Medici Quartet. Terri has just been named as one of 8 semi-finalists from across the country to compete in the Eckhardt-Gramatte National Competition to be held at the Univerisity of Brandon, in Manitoba. This will take place in early May. The competition is for amateur and professional string players. This past year Terri placed third in the National Music Festival in Edmonton, Alberta. TERRI is a Five-time NB SENIOR VIOLIN CHAMPION 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005 & 2004. She won the Star of the Festival Award at the NB Provincials in 2008. She was also selected to represent NB in the National Music Festival in Kamloops, BC in 2005, in Thunder Bay, Ont in 2006, Moncton, NB in 2007 and Edmonton, Alberta in 2008. She has won many classes in festivals and received high praise from adjudicators. She has excelled in her studies with the Royal Conservatory of Music and has been the recipient of the coveted Silver Medal for the highest mark in her class and the Frederick Harris Music Award for the highest mark in all classes. Terri was the Concertmistress of the NB Youth Orchestra - 2005-2006, Associate Concertmistress- 2004-2005 and a member for 8 years. Since being a member, she has played for the Prime Minister of Canada, has travelled to Carnegie Hall, New York and Parma, Italy. Terri was featured quite extensively in the International Award winning documentary of the New York event called "Practice, Practice, Practice". They recorded a CD in New York and in Parma, Italy. Terri was also featured in "The Martime Violin of Jasper Wood". Terri really enjoys her music, it is so evident in her playing. She plays with such feeling. She has had training in classical violin, fiddle, piano, voice(choirs) and step-dancing. As an award winning classical violinist Terri has been asked to perform at the Gala Concert at the Moncton Music Festival 8 years in a row and for the past two years at the NB Competitive Music Festival of Stars. As a fiddler Terri has also won many awards such as: 2-time Maritime Open Fiddle Champion (all ages) 3-time Canadian Grand Master Fiddle Finalist (all ages) 3-time Canadian Fiddle Champion (12 & under) 2-time Provincial Open Fiddle Champion (all ages) Recipient of the Don Messer Award Recipient of the Tara Lynn Touesnard Award Canada Day Youth Award NB Merit Award Salisbury's Mayor's Award |
