Elaborate Death Sequences
By Judd Taylor
Ever wonder what would
happen if you cheated death? Would death chase you down and kill
you in some extreme way because you slipped it’s claws? Well, Final
Destination seems to think so.
For no reason explained,
Alex Browning (Sawa) has a vision that the plane he is on will explode.
He wakes up and goes crazy, getting him and his classmates thrown off of
the plane. Because they cheated death, it comes back for them and
hunts them down, which is so eloquently explained by Bludworth (Todd from
Candyman),
again with no explanation as to how he knows this.
The idea for this
film is good; you can’t cheat death. But the rest of the film is
horrible. Bad acting, especially the lead actor, bad script, lacking
the wit of Scream, and poor execution of the idea. The whole
film is basically elaborate death sequences, where you’re waiting to see
how someone will die. This is just another bandwagon teenie-bopper
horror flick.
