in Company E of the 17th MS Regiment during the Civil War. This company,

"Burnsville Blues", was mustered into state service at Burnsville, Tishomingo
Co., MS, May 11, 1861. Christopher died in Richmond, Virginia on July 7, 1862
a few days after the Seven Days Battles when McClellan unsuccessfully attempted
to capture the South's capital.
