Born into the family of a Baptist minister in Mississippi, I grew up in central Kentucky, and attended the University of Kentucky. While at the university I earned an undergraduate degree in secondary foreign language education and a masters in German literature. I took time off to study a year at the Universität Heidelberg; taught English in Geißen, Germany, in Gdañsk (Danzig), Poland, and in Trikala, Greece. I later went back into academic study at the Catholic University of America where I earned a masters in library science. Today I work as the librarian for AEI, a think tank located in Washington, DC.

Another hobby of mine (besides traking down the family history) is book collecting. All bibliophiles are invited to take a look at the site I've begun that deals with the German language press in the United States.
