Glenrothes went one up within 24 seconds
after Ports central defender John Ward headed back to the keeper.
Glens Benny Andrews was quick to intercept the pass back and slotted
the ball home. Tayport tried hard to get back into the game
but like the OVD final they failed to capitalise on their goalmouth
efforts. With 5 minutes remaining in the first half Port were
awarded a penalty after a Gareth Dailly cross ball was handled in
the area. John Ward sent the keeper the wrong way. In the second
period Tayport had no problem getting the ball into the Glens goal
area but again failed to make anything of the chances they created.
Port came very close to going level when a Ralph Hunter effort
brought of a tremendous diving save from Glens Clive Guppy in goal.
Glenrothes replied almost immediately with a driven shot from 20
yards beating Ports Frazer Fitzpatrick.
Port need to win the 4 remaining games and turn around a huge goal
difference of 14 if they are to retain the title.
