| THE FIRST EPISODE |
| The episode begins with a voice of a woman narrating the legend of the Hitokiri Battousai, the master assasin who had helped build the Meiji era and had disappeared for the last ten years. Next we see a girl chasing a man with a red hair, accusing him of being the Hitokiri Battousai who had killed 3 men the night before. The red-haired man was telling her that he was only a Rurouni, a wandering samurai, and showing her his reversed-blade Sakaba sword when they heard noises, caused by the Hitokiri who was killing a few guys. The girl rushed to the site to fight to masked man claiming to be the Hitokiri Battousai, and ended up being saved by the Rurouni. The so-called Hitokiri ran away, all the while saying that he was the Battousai, from the Kamiya Kasshin Ryuu. The girl passed out (of what I don't know for sure, she only received a minor cut on her arm, honestly! Maybe it was all that running around...) and woke up in her own room, at the Kamiya Dojo. She turned out to be Kamiya Kaoru, master of the Kamiya Kasshin Ryuu. She found the Rurouni cooking in her backyard and playing with the neighbourhood children (she also found out that he cooked a lot better than she did! And those are VERY cute animal-shaped onigiris he made!). Out of gratitude and kindness, she offered him to stay there and after a minor incident in the errr... bathroom ^0^, she locked him up in a dirty shed to prevent anything from happening again. However, he told her that the so-called Hitokiri had a dislocated right thumb and inquired whether she knew someone with that condition. Outraged, she left him locked in the shed but when she came back later on to apologize, she discovered that he had gone with the lock still intact. (The shed had miraculously been cleaned too *thanks to RKArchive for noticing this!* Now, who wouldn't want a Rurouni like him staying in her house?) Kaoru somehow recalled the incident 11 years ago, when her father, then master of the Dojo, had expelled an undisciplined pupil, Gohei Hiruma, by dislocating his right thumb so he could never use that hand to hold a sword. However, Gohei Hiruma appeared at the Dojo that moment with the intention of killing Kaoru and ransacking the Dojo to get his revenge. He beat Kaoru easily, because of his strength and because his sword easily cut Kaoru's wooden one. At that moment, the Rurouni appeared and easily beat all Gohei's men, with his amazing speed and without killing one of them at all. He talked of the real Hitokiri Battousai who used his own special technique, called the Hiten Mitsurugi Ryuu, which made both Gohei and Kaoru realized that HE was the actual Hitokiri Battousai. The Rurouni then beat Gohei by injuring his LEFT hand so he couldn't use a sword with that hand, either. That is, really, quite unfortunate for him . Kaoru asked him to stay, telling him she didn't care about his past. But if he still wanted to leave and continue to wander, she wanted to know his name. He told her his name, Himura Kenshin. And he stayed . And this, as they say, is where it all began..... |
