Proper Nouns

Professor Pen says:

Begin your proper nouns with a capital letter. In other words, if it is a name of a person, a place, or a thing, start it with a capital letter!

A common mistake:

When you talk about your mother, or any other family member......

I know Mother loves these flowers!

"Mother" is capitalized because the term is being used as a name.

If you wrote.........

My mother loves these flowers!

"Mother" is not captitalized here because the term is not being used as a name.
