Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance is a wonderful ideal to which we all would agree, however, we should recognize there are two parties to this agreement, i.e. the government of the U.S. to whom the pledge is made and the people who make the pledge based on the promises made by the government. A pledge is a verbal contract between two parties. The contract is not valid unless both parties hold their end of the agreement otherwise the contract is meaningless.
The Pledge says "Under God", but we know by the rulings of the Courts, the actions of the politicians and special interest groups this promise or provision by the government is not affirmed. What was wrong with the Ten Commandments in the courthouse? These were the basis of all our laws, apparently not anymore. Apparently, cursing someone's God is no longer a hate crime unless you are of a "Protected Class" ruled by the Courts. Committing Adultery is not a crime anymore either, "it just a choice some people make about relationships." Coveting is not a crime, it's ok to claim you are entitled to someone else's possessions or money based on you not having it and then go to Court to take it from them. Bearing false witness is no longer a crime, Judges expect everyone to lie in Family Law cases such as Divorce, Domestic Violence and Child Custody and then give the benefit of the doubt to women.
The Pledge says "With Liberty and Justice for All." Over 140 men have been exonerated on death row in the past few years, and that number is steadily growing thanks to the Innocence Project using DNA testing. The State of Illinois had to commute all the Death Sentences to life terms due to evidence of Police and Prosecutorial Misconduct. Where was their Liberty in jail for a crime they did not commit? Why do Prosecutors oppose DNA testing of evidence of past convictions to confirm whether someone was truly guilty of the crime they were convicted? Are they afraid the public will find out literally thousands of people are in jail for crimes they did not commit, in the name Political Correctness? The pursuit of Justice requires the Truth, and Truth is only found in reviewing "all the facts" not just the convenient ones that validate your belief. How is it Justice or the fair and impartial administration of the Law when Judges routinely bend the rules based on the color or gender of the defendant? Yes, folks it is still happening, it is the rule not the exception. How is it that 26% of the prison population is black but they only constitute 13% of the general population? Are we really saying blacks are more disposed to committing crime? I know many African Americans, my experience says they are no worse than any other group. How is it Justice when accusations are routinely only accepted from one gender (female) and routinely dismissed if the accusations come from the other gender (male)? How is it that child custody decisions fall 90% of the time to women? Are we really saying that men, given the opportunity to be parents are not capable of that responsibility and have nothing to contribute other than money? How is it that the vast majority of Domestic Violence findings are against men when studies clearly show 50% is committed by women?
Government cannot govern without the consent of the governed, without that consent is it called a Dictatorship. If the governed have expectations that government lives up to the promises it makes, it is the governed responsibility to hold the government accountable. Stop whining about morality and start complaining to your state and federal representatives. The difference between whining and complaining is being a disgruntled person who does nothing. You have the responsibility to hold government representatives accountable. Write or email them frequently, have you friends do the same. Keep after them until they do what is right. Join an organization or create one. You should remember the story Jesus told about the unrighteous judge who did not fear anyone and the woman repeatedly asking for protection, it was her persistence that paid off in the end. Morality will follow if we demand what is right.
By the way, if you do not vote, you do not have a right to complain. If you don’t like the decisions being made by your representatives, then complain otherwise they will continue to make choices for you that you do not like. The right of Free speech is meaningless unless you direct it to the people that make the choices. Isn’t that the point of a representative type government, the few making the choices for the many based on the concept of "The rule of the majority balanced by the rights of the minority"? Democracy is not the minority demanding their interests over the objections of the majority by what is politically correct but what is factually demonstrated, nor is it the majority opinion demanding their interests by trampling the rights of the few. The law is supposed to be enforced by what Thomas Jefferson espoused, equal rights for everyone with special privileges for no one. It is your choice, Freedom for all of us or the Dictatorship of the Politically Correct by the few. In a representative type government, silence by the Majority condones the actions of the Few.
