Although reports about the current road tunnel proposals around Sydney including the use of unfiltered exhaust ventilation stacks may give the impression that these are only recent issues, in truth they are the product of quite an extensive history ranging over a number of years.
The following is a chronology of the major events and decisions leading up to and surrounding the proposals of the M5 East, Cross City and Lane Cove Tunnels, right up until October 2000.
