OBJECTIVES

Since the dawn of man, people have learned to express their emotions through the physical movement known as the dance. The proliferation of various dance troupes throughout the years enabled a lot of countries to preserve their socio-cultural image as reflected in their native dances. The Philippines is one such country with folk dances synthesized within the backdrop of its social and artistic climate.

Filipiniana, a dance company consisting of young Filipino-Canadian dancers, singers, and musicians attempts to cultivate their heritage in its various presentations throughout the years. The group's founder, Leticia Bulotano, envisioned a dance troupe that would carry out the task of promoting Filipino culture through songs, music, and dances.

Since its foundation on March 5, 1980, through its establishment as a dance company on June 7, 1983 Filipiniana has been very proud and truly privileged to have discovered the hidden talents of the youth of the Filipino-Canadian community in the province of Quebec.

Filipiniana has developed and promoted the Filipino identity and the multi-ethnic character of the province of Quebec in Canada and other parts of the world.
